What Top 3 Albums Do U Think Have Grown Gracefully(Dated Well) and 3 You Think Havent

Ok mine are.....

Dated Well

1. Parade (Sound just as fresh today)

2. Purple Rain (Some sounds dated..buts stood up pretty well compared 2 Thriller)

3. Come (Way ahead of its time)

Not Dated So Well

1. Emacipation (Growing 2 old 2 fast,over blown production etc....still 1 of my faves)

2. The Gold Experience (Them bloddy seques...grrrrr!...my 2nd fave Prince album...like ever!)

3. Batman (Sorry 1 of my least fave albums just shit..apart from Partyman and scandalous)

Everybody's looking 4 the ladder
Everybody wants salvation of the soul
The steps U take are no easy road
But the reward is great
4 those who want 2 go

I really don't know because I still listen 2 all of these albums...Any given day can inspire me to listen to music that other's probably aren't.

I still listen 2 Taylor Dayne and Lisa Keith. Other people may think these albums have a place in the past, however, I think music from all times lives forever. "For You," can still feel new, when U look at a day sufficient unto itself. cool

Good:

Parade
Sign O The Times
1999

Bad:

diamonds & pearls
prince
emancipation

in emancipation's defence, the 8 or 9 absolutely brilliant
tracks on the package have aged well for me. the rest was
bordering on silly to begin with and consequently hasn't
gotten any better over time.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I agree with most everyone’s selections above.
I'm glad to see Come is better received nowadays, for a 90's album, this was one of the only ones I liked, ……but was kinda hated on here in the org.

I think it has some great songs, but it is also afflicted with the dumb cheesy vibe that has afflicted most of his 90's albums, most notably, the dumb licking sounds on the title track and the moaning of orgasm, But most notably the classic 90's dumb vibe of PAPA DARK and LOOSE, I cannot bare to listen to those three at all.
Someone mentioned on another thread that they were embarrassed to be caught listening to "Solo", those three are the ones i was embarrassed being caught listening to, lol CHEESY like beyond 90's cheese.
But, overall a better album than most of his 90's stuff with the classics "Solo" "Pheromone" "Let It Go" & Come (to an extent)

1999 is one of the albums that comes to mind. It sounds semi-dated to me, but with the resurgence of Prince-styled music, it sounds fresh again.

Yeah, Emancipation, prince, Diamonds and Pearls (for the most part) haven't aged very well. Most of the trax sound very dated.

Dated well:
THe Black album
didn't realize it till now but....Come
and parade...

didn't think I'd come to the same conclusions that most people did....but I did.

there's others I wanna say but I guess we're limited to three?

not dated well:
as much as I love TGE it hasn't dated well...he would have to rearrange the songs or summin to release them today
and I'd say Graffitti Bridge, but that album sucked the day it came out.
soo....

Prince....sounds SOOOOO late 70's early 80's...and there's NO way around it.
still love it though!

and fuck it...imma throw Glamourous life out there....I know it don't say Prince on the sleeve....but c'mon now. Just to be different really
still love the album though.
