Please help me understand this about his new book.

Why is everyone referring to 21 Nights as his "first book"?

I can think of two officially released books that are similar: "Sacrifice of Victor" and whatever the Hawaii book was called.

That's not to mention all the tour programs that were filled with high quality glossy photos. Sure, tour programs don't really count as "books", but kinda... why not? The ACT I tour book is basically like 21 Nights, just with a lot less pages. It's even got poetry. I mean if you can consider 21 Nights a "book", then surely he's released other "books".

I can't wait until he releases his "first CD".

Might be that it's his first published book as opposed to privately distributed?

Yes, but if he self-published the others himself then they were still published.

If you self-cook an egg at home as opposed to having a professional chef cook it at a restaurant, it's still cooked...

Maybe he's starting to forget things at his age... lol He obviously forgot he wasn't going to sing his hits again about a million times.

was 'sacrafice of victor' or 'prince in hawaii' available 2 buy at their time of release from any outlets other than paisley park/npgmc or npg stores ? (i kno i got mine that way, so mayb that is why they r describing it as the 'first' book, commercially speaking ?).

oh, and i think P is still a pretty smart cookie. someone with that amount of fearless drive ain't gonna lose the plot anytime soon !

I don't think self-produced and self-distributed books count as "published", even if they are purchased.

This new book is distributed in national bookstores, Target stores, and online retailers that are NOT NPG-owned and operated. I gave mine away, but did The Sacrifice Of Victor and Neo Manifesto even have barcodes?

So, to be fair, it is NOT his first book but it IS his first published book.

I had it a few years, only looked at it a few times, and I sent it to a friend who I knew would appreciate it WAY more. I'm not a collector of images and paper products; I am a collector of music. I bought the new book just for the Indigo Nights CD. I might send the book itself to the same person.

I'm not all that interested in idolizing or worshipping Prince for how he looks. I'd rather have the music.

yeah alhzheimer's is a bitch ain't it? nod
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
