2020-and theres no more fear

so i was watching "countdown to armaggedon" on History channel last night, and it got me thinking, and i finally realized that the outtake "2020" is about the world ending. I was wondering y this song was left off emancipation and maybe thats when prince thinks the world is gonna end.

He subsequently released '2045: Radical Man' which suggests he does not see 2020 as the end of the world

And after that he released Lolita, in which he confessed that if she was his, he'd 'bump, bump, bump'. I suppose that is a sexual reference.

Seriously.

True, Prince's religious journey seems to be something of an emotional rollercoaster and surely it is a journey that some of us do not feel comfortable with, especially as they seem to have rather extreme ideas and cultish ways of interpreting the bible.

Even though I am glad Prince seems comfortable with the path he has chosen, I am just a little saddened that it seems to have a somewhat dull effect on his musical/lyrical output; he seems somewhat automated when it comes to structuring compositions. Only occasionally he seems to be able to create a song that will stand the test of time, let alone an entire album that stands on it'sown.

But like I said, that is a somewhat egocentrical view of me, concerning Prince's output since 1996; I always try to be grateful for the period when he was still capable to woo me, album after album and make me love an antire body of work, instead of isolated cases.
It's as much Prince's music as it is me; you cannot take everything with you into the future; some things you have to leave behind to be able to grow yourself.

I haven't heard this song, however I can assume that Prince may say that 20/20 vision, chasing away the fear of the world ending...although ending in the way we have been accustomed to a divided thought pattern.

I'm sure my English teacher will come out to call me on the run-on. cool

I love this Prince song! It reminds me a bit of the song, "7". It's a short song though that should have been a bit longer. giggle

Can't type right in correct sentences edit lol

2020 was inspired by the fear of the failure of his prophecy of 1999.
Actually Prince's never had a lion in his pocket. It's too big for him and the track P. Control clearly references to the fact that it's obviously only a pussy. Not a lion.

isn't there a reference 2 2020 in the cd booklet in emancipation?
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
