Throughout the years, I always thought that was a very interesting time period in Prince's (and his empire) life. I always thought The "Triple Threat" tour with his crew, The Time, and Vanity 6 from 82-83 was a fascinating event in my man's career. He produced some of the best and most influential music of his career then and took his show on the road. And in the books I read about those accounts, it was quite a pivotal moment in Prince's history. There were backstage scandals, fights, and many other juicy bits of drama that went on at that time that would make for great literature. In what form (books, magazines, etc.)doesn't matter, I just wanna read it. Hell, Jill was telling me some things about that era herself. I won't go into it, but oh was it scandalous. I mean, we fans probably only know fractions about that tour, like the departure of Jam & Lewis, Dez's spiritual epiphany, Prince's love triangle with Vanity and Susan, etc.

Oh yes, this would be great to read about.

I think more people would want to read about/watch a documentary on the Purple Rain project.

From the recording of the album, the filming and release of the movie, the 6 months at #1, and the blockbuster tour. Add to that the awards that he won for that project, and you have a lot of material.

Purple Rain is widely considered one of the best albums of all time, so it should be documented in this manner. It would also be nice if Prince did the commentary (but the chance of that is slim-to-none).

Unless this was self-produced by Prince, it ain't gonna happen. While it was a big deal at the time, it really isn't all that anymore. Yes, 1999 is one of Prince's best albums, but The Time and Vanity 6 albums didn't really stand the test of time.

Best you can hope for is a Prince concert video anthology someday.

oh yeah that would be the shit. That tour was the tour that drove parents back then crazy lol. when i talk to friends it was the triple threat and the first major def jam tour (Run DMC headlining). It was also the last fling with the hardcore, after that he no longer just belonged to "us". after that i had to stomach kids who only months earlier called him names wearing purple rain t shirts to school LOL. Very pivotal time indeed, he had to be a bundle of conflicts when you consider his response to superstardom.
