Lovesexy is what got me into Prince in the first place and I will defend it to my grave!

But right now NPS needs my protection more urgently. smile

glad to see the protection is getting properly passed.. heh heh...

with that in mind... please let me say Gold was better than i originally thought - i can't imagine a world w/o BJB... and SHHH!! in truth 319, grew on me!!!

i don't think there are too many albums of the past that need protection from the masses or violent acts of God as they will stand the test of tyme as they have stood this long on their own merit.

its the recent decade that has truly brought the defenses out...

That's a tough question.
the one I will take with me anywhere would be ONA, since it was given to me by a very special person.
The one I grew up with was 1999, which was also the first album of prince I've ever heard. so it will always have an important place in my heart.

the black album great memories...I had just progressed to Prince fanatic when it was released (properly) in 94. I'll defend dead on it till I'm blue in the face- so so funky and cool.

come...I really have listened to this a lot, and I think this is where the bond forms. Great album and recently on the org not so terribly underrated (finally!)

rdhull...what?

as i said in previous topic i don't see anyone dissing the OLD albums or violent acts of God stopping them as they have stood the TESTs of tyme...

anyone who hates on Dirty Mind/ Controversy/1999/PurpleRain/PARADE/Around the World in A Day/LoveseXy > are completely ignorant of life beyond the normal constraints of rythm...these albums IMO have no need of protection, once someone says something derogatory i have to go.

Oh I wasn't saying that you felt that you personally would start dissing 1999..I was stating that the protection of 1999 is still in effect for fools who try to disrespect it.

I love Dirty Mind too.

I can't decide between Dirty Mind or Lovesexy.

They both have that sort of rough & ready feel like they were recorded in the space of time it takes to listen to the damn albums.

I love how the second part of Alphabet St. sounds like it was Scotch-taped on as an afterthought and no attempt has been made to hide it.

I love the cold electronic funk of Head and Partyup.

I love the fact that when I listened to Lovesexy for the first time, it was like I had never heard music before in my life. It sounded like nothing else at the time and still doesn't.

I love the flat warm guitar sound on When You Were Mine.

I always group Dirty Mind and Lovesexy together. Although they sound nothing like each other, they compliment each other very well like coffee and cream.

Wow... this one's tough. Everything from Around the World in a Day thru Lovesexy has been deeply intwined with those times in my life.

But the one album that I probably hold most dear is Sign O the Times. Of all of Prince's albums, this one is the one I'd hand off as his definitive work. It propelled me on my exploration of music, literature, arts; it is among my necessities when I travel; and it marked such a rich and evocative -- if not particularly happy -- time in my life.
