INDIGO NIGHTS - DOES NOT DO P JUSTICE, DOESNT SHOW HOW GOOD HIS SHOWS WERE

Hi,

I have to say I was very disappointed with the Indigo Nights CD.
Some of the versions of the songs sound too electronic and tacky (3121)(Renato...grrr), there is no coherence to them, some of the songs on the tracklist are just a few lines not complete songs (which is a big fan bugbear from ONA Live).
Compared to the excellence of the main shows that I heard and witnesses, this is a real disappointment.

I decided to search for a concert boot online of one of the concerts I went to. All i can say is EXCELLENT, whole songs, great crowd noise, feeling of excitement and electric which is missing on the Indigo Nights CD. There was also a wide tracklist of songs he hasnt released live before. Pink Cashmere and Black Sweat Live I have to say were the highlights to me.

Indigo nights is a wasted opportunity - P played 150 songs for the concerts, why on earth release covers that he didn't write and a tracklist that is similar to ONA Live Aftershow (how many times do we need to hear Whole Lotta Love)?

VERDICT: A 2 CD main show concert should have been released along with a DVD (does anyone remember that excellent clip on 3121 com of Joy In Repetition Live?). That would have been the bomb and would have done Prince justice as the brilliant musician that he is.
All this cd has done is give a reason to look for boots.
If Prince wants to get rid of the bootleggers, he should release the best stuff himself!

Its as if hes lost the idea of what fans would like (perhaps this is where a manager or good adviser would be ideal)

Don't get me wrong, I'm no hater, I hardly ever criticise him (why would I, he's an inspiration) however its just frustrating as hes almost selling his talent short.

As as Artist I was almost insulted by your comments but respect that you are sharing an opinion and since we all have one, I will share mine also...

Artist, like all living beings grow. Prince is growing and with the book noticed a moment in time to be captured and shared with the world and those in it. And you bought it. So why complain when you have the knowledge and access to recieve what you claim is lacking within the book? It looks like Prince provided what hasn't before been shared with the public... . .. . Hisself.

Although I choose not to buy his book I know Prince (in spirit and in truth) were no lies exist, and think it bold to include pieces, snippets, etc. because sometimes life gives us just enough to know it exists.

I have one question for you. Is the book so disappointing you are going to return it? If not then Prince is successful with his mission $$$. So thank you for supporting the arts, I know Prince appreciates your support as he lounges in the nooks, and crevices of the monies the masses has exchanged with him for his fruits/talents coupled with the goal of his life... . .. . Life eternal for us all filled with excelllent music.

headbang
I saw Prince cry
and I asked God why

The answer He gave
caused me 2 b saved

Now I cannot tell a lie

No, i won't return it as I support his work but make comments so he may release things we do want in future.

Anyway...you haven't heard the CD, I'm sure you'd say the same, knowing what he's capable of.

I agree...Don't worry about being perceived as a hater...in this case you make some great points...

This new cd is probably the most uninteresting thing I've bought of Prince's. I can't really listen to it after the first spin... it's just not good enough to play at all.

It sounds very Vegas-lounge-retirement home-generic except for the Whole Lotta Love cover which was done better on that last soundboard bootleg from years ago. And done better on the ONA dvd.
