it is a little strange that a book commemorating concert events ends up being filled with vanity shots with the twins. but things never turn out like you may expect them to in the world of Prince.


I also think it should contain more pictures of the shows. I see the book as a neat way to package an after show disc, and another way to basically market a CD.

Really the book is a gloryfied concert program , the CD is OK but there are way better live recordings out there , Im really surprised that its not alot better

I agree the main shows might not have been what we, the hardcore fans, liked the most. But if I would have to make a bok about the 21 nights, then i think it should be about the 21 nights. And that means shwoing some of the 21 shows and give sone sound (and video?) of it. From what i am reading here there is not that much connection between the 21 nights from last year and this book (apart from the timespan the photo's are shot).

I think the biggest problem with the book for me is the lack of love between audience and artist. After reading so many lovely,exciting reviews from last years shows, I'm disappointed that there was no focus on the fans true love for this man and his music.
I understand and appreciate the after hours essence being captured, but how many shots of airports and hotel rooms do we need to see? Not even a full shot of the stage?
We get plenty shots of the twins and the "maid" but not one of a passionate fan
attempting to offer flowers.
The glimpse is a bit too rigid and exclusive for me.

I would like to see photos that didn't make Prince look like he was something produced by Pixar. I would like to see Prince in unguarded moments, where looks genuinely human & is not posing. The photos are glossy & overproduced, & like much of his recent music with those unfortunate characteristics, they suffer for it.

And a better collection of songs from the aftershows, which everyone seemed to rave about. The recorded evidence is not supportive of those claims.

I do not think that I am asking too much or that I'm entirely alone with these feelings.

I know that that is Prince, but, damn, the photoshopping/posing gets boring after a few pages. I looked at it once, put it back in the cover, and set it on the bookshelf.

I long for the day of candid concert shots, non-preening settings, etc. Kind of like the Sacrifice Of Victor thing he had going on back in the day. I think that presented much more of a description of him doing his thing than 21 Nights.

It doesn't matter. I honestly buy Prince stuff nowadays out of obligation. No matter what is in the book, it's going to serve its purpose. To be in my collection.
