Yes but thats like saying Adore is a dance tune lol

This clearly depends on how you're defining "rap". Optimus, if you are referring to rap/hip hop music, then no -- from day one that song has never come across to me the least bit like rap or hip hop music. There were R'n'B artists that did this kind of thing years before rap/hip hop music reared its head. Talking and rhyming is not automatically defined as rap/hip hop music. It would be far different if we were trying to claim that Jughead was not rap. That would be a pretty hard one to defend. I will say by dictionary definition, what P is doing in Mr. G is "rapping" to the girl (talk or chat in an easy or familiar manner), BUT that does not make it rap/hip hop music. That would be like saying Barry White was a rapper.

It's not just the way he half sings, half raps in the song but those horrible weak sounding drum machines used on the song make it sound like shit hop. Weak sounding drum machines like those are the absolute definition of the shit hop sound. Just turn on the radio today and you will hear those similar sounding drum machines like that all over the place.

And before you say that Prince has always used drum machines even back in the early days, it ain't the use of drum machines that is the problem. It's the sound of the drum machines used on that song that is the problem.
Andy is a four letter word.

I liked MCHammer too. Whenever I saw him on TV dancing, I always danced along with his music videos. dancing jig

I've just found out what constitutes good music. As long as Tremolina loves it, it's good. Tremolina hates it and anyone else who likes it is clueless about music. How humble of you Tremolina.

Thanks, but not half as as humble as you and purplesweat were regarding riverpoet's opinion.

Can't simply respect somebody else's opinion? Then don't expect any respect yourself either.

I've heard plenty of bad Prince songs and Mr. Goodnight is far, far from his worst ever. Even you know that so quit bullshitting.

no barry white talked at the beggining of a song, but it didnt ryhme duh! then hed sing his song, it is a rap, is there any1 else who would say Mr Goodnight isnt a rap, i cant believe im havin this argument...its a rap end of!

You're right Optimus, Prince is rapping on Mr. Goodnight. However, it's not a rap/hip tune. He's rapping over a smooth R&B groove. Calling this a rap/hip hop tune is like calling Blondie's "Rapture" a rap/hip hop tune.

To be honest with you, compared to Lil Wayne who I think is at the top of the Hip Hop game right now, Prince actually sounds pretty decent. I'd rather listen to Mr. Goodnight than Lollipop. lol
