"A Million Days" from "Musicology"

Any praise for this "Musicology" album track. I think it's one of his best rockers and easily the highlight of the entire album (maybe one of two with "Cinnamon Girl"). Any more praise or criticism for this one?

Yes I agree that song, Call My Name, Dear Mr Man and What Do U Want Me 2 Do Girl? are my faves, however i do love the whole album just has a more organic and "old school" sound 2 it so it sticks out 4 me in my collection nod

I love this song. I'm still baffled as to why this song wasn't released as a single. It was a hit song waiting to be unleashed and yet Prince missed it again. I like how melancholy the song is and the guitar playing is on point. Any song that has Prince screaming on it is a bonafide winner to me. I think it is arguably the best if not one of the best songs on Musicology.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

yeah i agree with you on that. wasn't there a video made for it
which was never released? i think snippets of that video were in
one of the 2 video versions for "fury".

so it probably came close to being a single. wonder why he didn't
go through with it. or why he doesn't play it live. he plays lots
of guitar heavy songs lately and this would be such a nice song
to include in the setlist. he could rock out on it and stretch
the guitar solo's all the way out.

There was a video for it and I thought I heard that it was going to be the 4th single off Musicology but Prince must have yanked it. It should have been the 2nd single after "Musicology" and for a moment we thought it was going to be until it came out that "Call My Name" was going to be 2nd. Not bad at all but I wonder what kind of impact "A Million Days" would have had. Even without it as a single, I can just imagine Prince ripping the shit outta this song live. I think Prince needs to shock us and play this live one night.

My favorite from this CD. I played this song the most... this one and the marrying kind because they seemed to segue one to the other.

Agree with you. This song rocks, and is my favorite track off Musicology. I love the way the music builds as Prince sings,

"1 hundred thousand
Million days!"

Shoulda been a hit, a nice vid and making it a live staple through the Musicology tour would've helped.

Hands down, my favorite track on the Musicology album cool

When I first heard it, I thought it was "Call my Name" for some reason shrug I remember seeing the video for that song and liking it.
So actually when I heard the song the first, I didn't like it much at all. Because it was not your typical song where there are 2-3 verses and a chorus. This lacked both falloff
That was the day I first got that album, my first ever Prince album cool and I had to stop after "Cinnamon Girl"... don't think he'd ever disappointed me that much, but didn't know quite what to expect of this album at that point.

In the end, the fact its structure is unlike your typical song is part of the reason I fell in love with it. I used to be able to listen to it and my own little music video was playing in my head wink with Prince mostly singing to the camera or whatever, but his facial expression were very clear to me.

My favorite lyric is the verse that ends with him saying "ur the perfect picture of what love should look like and eye wanna be ur frame" mushy He's very sentimental there wink and his guitar solo sounds VERY old-school cool

Very early on, once I fell in love with the song, it was that defined him for me mushy
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

If it wasn't classic Prince before, the screaming puts it over the top!
