Why are we still here when the music is so bad? Well not all of us are here, I think there are a lot less posts than there used to be, however, the thing is that maybe a part of us (disenfranchised fans) still beleive that prince actually cares about our criticisms and might go off and make a masterpeice. find that old balance and just do it. Of course he does not need to listen to what we say, but maybe as Prince fans we want to get that feeling off our chests. well....I never said people couldnt criticize. Im always saying we are entitled to our own opinions, but of course others are entilted to their opinion back. Personally I think some people complain just because they can, and like I said, if ure that over Prince why waste ure time even bothering to buy his stuff. I really don't see what he did 20 years ago has to do with Prince now. He's going to change, most people do as they get older  I don't see Mick Jagger doing what he did 20 or 30 yers ago musically either. I dont think Prince cares about any of our criticizms at all. I wasn't talking about the people that are not still here if I may be more specific. Im talking about the ones that are still here but still whinge every step of the way. No one is forcing them to be here for goodness sake.

It appeals to one's senses or it does not. If the art he is creating doesn't appeal to you anymore, it does not mean that he is "making a fool of himself", it simply means that his art does not speak to you anymore. But just because it doesn't speak to you, doesn't mean it doesn't speak to others. Art is very subjective to the individual perceiving that artwork, in whatever form that art takes, and becomes as much a part of the individual partaking of the art as the creator of the art. So while the artist may create a form of art, the perceiver then becomes the creator through their perceptions of that art and re-create that art into what they "believe" it to be. So it's not Prince that is making a fool of himself, but rather the perceiver making a fool of Prince?  i agree with u about what u said, however i must also agree with the threadstarter in regards 2 his live per4mance these days..he is making a fool of himself by reliving the 80's over and over again and he can't even remember when the controversy album came out..it came out in 1981 NOT 1982!!! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 | |
