Its empty nonsense..... He can't deliver a song as good as 'Norwegian wood' or 'Like a rolling Stone´. Get a life...get productive... sorry, can you please fix your title? it's 'himself', not 'himselve'. it just bothers me. i was thinking the same, if ure going to slag a genius off make sure you can spell in response i quite like the pictures well worth the £13.50 plus you get a 77 min aftershow cd might not be everybodys cup of tea but you cant please everybody

First, hey forgive me about that 'himselve' (english isn't my first language)... lol
Okay, okay, spelling police, it is 'himself'... thanks Second, i know i was putting my complaints in a really 'blunt' way, but not for no reason. In the past Prince of course did also pay much attention to his clothes, what he looked like, to his image. But most of the time, how 'pretty' the pictures were, they had some kind of 'edge', weither an ironic one, a raw, agressive one. He was obviously 'playing' with how he was presenting himself, and what the reactions of the people on his image would be. When it comes to this 21 nights book i mostly see bland, photoshopped pictures, very slick and polished, but not 'daring' at all. The same complaint i had about the booklet of the 3121 album. What was he thinking there: was he ONLY showing the people how much money he made, and what kind of pimp-a-licious crib he could effort with it? And, whats is even more important (irritating IMO), that same kind of slick, posh look-at-me-blandness is also turning up on his last three studio albums. The music isnt bad, but most of the time its way too safe and bland to really create a spark with the listener. The Prince of the 21th century is not far away from being a has-been Vegas-artist who is repeating some old tricks all of the time. He has landed into James Brown / Stevie Wonder / Tom Jones-territory. And that exactly ISN'T the thing that first attracted me to his music and his lyrics. I became 'in love' with him, because of his guts to experiment with sounds, his ability to mix several styles of music and create something 'fresh' from it, the provocative lyrics and themes in his songs, his playfullness when it did come to re-define what an 'pop-artist' exactly should be. Listen to 1999 and 3121 back to back, and you will probably hear what i mean. [Edited 10/4/08 8:56am]

I said the same in my previous post... people want to tell Prince what to do and think he'll play puppet for them..... but what are they doing? .... criticizing and bad mouthing is so productive lol .. and yet they still come here.. and the technical truth is... they don't even know presently what Prince is doing... not one clue....

If you went to a board meeting and someone came in and sat down and put the JW's bible on the table and before you started asked if you believe in God.....ah.... what would you do??? I don't know but he clings to that bible like Linus to a blanket....I know you're encouraged to take the bible with you at all times but throwing it up on a table and then throwing that statement at everyone...well sorta sounds like he's judging people...I don't see it coming across as though he really cares and wants to share. Sorta like a defense (shield) to protect him.... I feel he comes across weaker that way. I can't get the Linus and the blanket picture out of my mind.....bible;religion=security blanket. Price is as subtle as a heart attack so often..... [Edited 10/4/08 13:05pm]

As an artist myself I know a lot of people don't get "it" right away.
He doesn't have to explain anything and you have the option to like it or hate it. Either way it is your opinion and you are entitled to it, just as he is entitled to create whatever he feels like.

That is the best thing about being free...you don't have to buy it. If you don't like Prince then move on to Chris Brown ro who ever is out there. Prime aka The Kid

Yeah, much crazier things are happening out there that's for sure..... Did Prince write the line that goes sorta like "Hey Kid nobody gets Ur music but U"???(Purple Rain)...If his life is his music.... then art imitates life in that line....A lot of people just don't "get it" when it comes to him. It's over my head....makes for good discussion.

In actuality, Prince has made a fool out of anyone who bought this book. The majority of the photos look ridiculously alien & unreal. As good as some of the aftershows were rumored to have been, the song selection here is remarkably uninspired & the performances stale. Gloating that the book sold out on amazon.co.uk, or anywhere for that matter, is meaningless unless you show the number of copies printed & distributed.

Im beginning to think ure complaining just for the sake of having something to complain about, because if u were really that fed up with Prince u wouldn't be bothering with him at all now would u? hey I dont know why, but I kind of agree with river. I think Prince is now a much smaller imitation of himself. His music lacks edge or personality. I think that yes Prince has the right to do anything he wants, but we also have the right to criticise it, its a free world no? perhaps the reason why so many people criticise his music, lyrics and style now is because he set such high standards with his music 20 years ago, that he cannot keep up with it now. Why are we still here when the music is so bad? Well not all of us are here, I think there are a lot less posts than there used to be, however, the thing is that maybe a part of us (disenfranchised fans) still beleive that prince actually cares about our criticisms and might go off and make a masterpeice. find that old balance and just do it. Of course he does not need to listen to what we say, but maybe as Prince fans we want to get that feeling off our chests.
