Concept albums - what's your favorite?

With a possible full-out Rock album on it's way, I thought about some other concepts. Name your favorite AND your least favorite concept album:

-Rock /// Think Chaos and Disorder
-Acoustic /// Think One Nite Alone, The Truth, MTV Musicology.
-BigBand /// Think Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Michael Buble.
-Power trio /// Think Undertaker, stripped down songs.
-Disco /// Think uptempo party songs.
-Symphony /// Think Clare Fischer and lush ballads.
-Synths only /// Think his early 80's output, linn drum, synth bass and synth 'horns'.
-Duets /// Think Rave. This time well executed: every song with one other artist actually audible.
-Hits re-imagined /// The classics in an entirely new jacket. Think MTV Musicology.

Concept-albums?

Umm.. its a bit if an arbitrary subject of course, but when it comes to the things you listed the 2 'concepts' that most excite me are:

Power-trio:
Most of Princes efforts within this 'format' are not very known by the big public. A shame IMO.
It would be cool to see a new album of guitarist/singer Prince with 'just' a bassist and drummer (preferably Michael Bland and Sonny Thompson) creating some stripped down soulfull and bluesy rock, without overdubs and synths, aka The band of gypsies, Cream and King's X.

Symphonic:
Personally i think the 'trilogy' Prince did with Clare Fisher (The Family's album, Parade and Jill Jones album) is among his best, most creative work.
Ánd it doesn't have to be ballads only: songs like Screams of Passion and Mia Bocca are masterpieces when it comes to their arrangements. The mixture of dry, hard, electronic funk beats and baroque orchestral instrumentation was really groundbreaking in retrospect, and i would love to hear more of that striking combination!

Nice! Fun to see you like the stripped down sound on the one hand and the full fledged orchestral sound on the other! biggrin

And agreed: Clare's orchestra can be used to funk it up as well!
