The music to this is tight--unrecognized. Got the chicken scratch and baad bass with that classic Time synth "wabb" sound every now and then. I like when Brenda says "..just talk about her". I always thought the gf was Morris doing his schtick back then--it wasnt until Alfred! made himself known that I knew it was Prince. Chicken scratch.

I love this song,it's hilarious!!! For years,I thought it was Morris Day appearing on it,but it's really Prince!

The best line in the song is when Vanity says "Why don't you just tie a mattress to your back?" and Prince responds "I'm gonna need it,cuz if I ever see your face I'm gonna fall and have a heart attack".

Great song, playing it right now. Very funny! And of course very funky!

I remember back in 1983 I hung around with friends who were into breakdancing.They were practicing in my garage one day and I put on the song "Make Up".They were like "Yeah,this song is perfect!!" and they used that song to practice with! The beat is very fast,and it's the perfect electro-funk track for that kinda dancing.

Ah yes, this song. I had only heard it for the first time last week but I think it's already a classic. Vanity & Prince(yes, that's him & I knew it was him the second I heard "yes, but he's taking a shower") play the dozens to the FONKAAY-ASS groove(sounds a bit like "Wild & Loose" to me). Those were the days.

I love this album.
"Make Up" is the jam, and even though I hate Vanity's singing on "3X2=6" I LOVE the music! It's so kick ass!
