Howard did talk about attending the show, and he wasn't very kind in his review. Here is a mention from howardstern.com:

PRINCE OF DARKNESS

Howard said he went to a private Prince concert on Friday night, and the Purple One insisted that everyone stand for the performance. If the lack of chairs wasn't enough, Prince performed in the dark: "He comes out on stage...and the lights come on...and he goes, 'No no no no no no. No lights.' And they turn out the lights...And it's a crowd of about 80 people, so he can hear you, so I yell out 'Why don't you turn the f’ing lights on!"

He later went on to say that he was so pissed that the lights didn't come on that he called Prince an asshole and left the show almost right away.

Interesting. Did any "fam" reports mention this? I wouldn't pay $1000 to be forced to stand in a dark room.

Those lights looked like flood lights for photogs and were directly in Prince's eye (at his eye level). Seemed to be the wrong lighting.

I noticed Prince was a little pissed, didn't know why but everything seems to fit in place now.

Who would? You'd have to be an idiot to pay somebody to treat you like that.
lol

When you pay money for something, I don't care what any stupid ass fam has to say, it's a busines deal. You pay for a service, and that service should be curteous and professional. You wouldn't expect a waiter or waitress to bring you what you served an hour late and cold, would you?
Really, sometimes Prince is so stupid.

Let's be serious. Howard is funny about two days farther from sometimes.
A man that has girls on his show that lay down with tuna fish all over them for the sake of being a human plate...is not an opinion I would take into consideration as important.

Here is a play by play re; all this Controversy. I was position in the very front by the stage and observed everthing first hand. The minute Prince walked on the stage, you could tell that he was annoyed by something. It seems as if he did not get an opportunity to have a soundcheck and here were the issues:

Lighting: When the lights came on it was very apparent that by the way they were positioned, they were overpowering his view and somewhat blinding him. He was overheard saying into the microphone that "I want to see who we have out there indicating to me that he could not see the crowd due to the lights.

Sound: He was bothered with the amount of feedback.. He twice stated into the mic "Settle down Bill." Bill is his sound board tech. After a third bout of feedback, Prince shot a very pissed off look at the sound board. Very Simply...Prince was pissed at the soundman.

Photographer As the show began, there was one sole photographer taking shots. In the mist of all the sound and lighting problems, Prince himself hung over the side of the stage and told the photographer "Its time for you to go."

He also had a setlist positioned on a podium in front of the stage. A couple of times he motioned over to his stage assistant to bemove it closer. After three failed attempts, Prince himself, in the middle of a song, went down and moved it closer to the stage himself.

In a short matter of time it looks like things became more up to Prince standards and he began to settle in. Even with all this going on, I challeng anyone in today's music world to have all this going on and to put on a show the caliber that he did. For Howard Stern to indicate that he was not really playing the guitar.....He should be banned from future Prince shows.

One important note.... The stage and lighting were re-arranged for the second show....which only had one technical mistake, another bout of feedback during the song "Purplre Rain" which prompted Prince to say "The man's name working the sound is Bill" a far more calm demeanor from the first show.

It is noted that Prince is a perfectionist. In Prince's world anything less than perfection is not acceptable. We as Prince fans should value this and critisze the Howard Sterns of the world that do not appreciate talent of this magnitude.
