I'm sure this has probably been discussed before but I was wondering what did P mean when he sang "Purple Rain"...is there a deep meaning behind the choice of the color purple? I'm just wondering if anyone had any input on this.

and rain surronds u like love its everywere when it pours and flows over you u may be able to escape it 2 go indoors, but u can still hear it tapping on your windows, also rain looks like tear drops (cuz its a sad song) So hes used Purple Rain as a metaphor for Love, Kinda like saying "Let Me Guide you Threw Love"...thats how i see it anyway

I am not sure what Purple Rain means. However, I am sure that the plot was taken directly from a Frank Sinatra movie, Pal Joey. In it Frank is a singer who has problems, his band plays at a club and the owner is always giving him grief. A rich lady he is dating comes to the club and he is mad at her - so - he sings the lady is a tramp. This matches with Darling Nikki. There are many scenes that match.

prince had said in an intreview before...this...the sky is blue...when there is blood in the sky....the two colors together make purple...because when God makes his return on judgement day that will be the color it will be....that to many of us will be a happy day because we will be saved...to others not so good...depends on the life u live....u will be so scared u will sweat blood....mzsexybaby
