i don't think that it was all about evilness or the devil. I think that it reflects what the artist is fazing through creativly. I think that it is just how your mind perceives the ART,and i think that's possibly what Prince wanted to capture in this album cover,YOU C What YOU see.

i used to think the whole 1999 album cover thing was a bit childish of people for pointing out that 999 equals 666 and "the revolution" backwards says "evil" or whatever, and he wrote "ecnirp" because of something Crowley had said. such silliness, or so i thought back then. i've since come to learn much more about the man. he dug a lot deeper a decade later with evidence of that still popping up in his work today. but i'll reserve that for a different thread. peace.
