Coldplay deny O2 residency rumours

Chris Martin has denied rumours that Coldplay are to take up residency at London's O2 Arena.

The frontman told Absolute Radio that he had doubts about Coldplay's ability to follow in Prince's footsteps and sell out the arena for 21 consecutive nights.

"He sold out 21 nights," Martin commented. "I don't think we could. You can't do that unless you've got impeccable facial hair. With my facial hair we could probably sell out five nights."

Other acts rumoured to be playing a series of gigs at the O2 include Michael Jackson and U2.

Don't think they could do that. They just haven't been around long enough. Even if they charged £35 a ticket (what Prince was including booking fees), would people fly from all over the world to see them?

They tour often enough anyway, so would people from the other end of the country travel down for it when they've probably played locally to them recently? Would people go just to hear 2 or 3 songs for a whiff of nostalgia to their childhoods? Would people go to see the magnitude of stage persona that is Chris wanking Martin? lol

The answer is no if anyone was wondering biggrin Michael Jackson could do it (hypothetically, you know he doesn't have the stamina or reliability to pull it off), Madonna definitely couldn't because she tours so much anyway.

Honestly, they are good, but not that good to keep audiences captivated for 21 days-might be a good thing that they're not.
