Tag Team Game #2: 1999 & Purple Rain vs. ATWIAD & Parade Here we go again y'all! Sorry it took so long for me to come back but I'm here. So let's go. This match-up is the Revolution period and Prince's high commercial period. It's not easy I know but try your best. As for me, I debated quite a while over this and I decided to pick 1999 & PR over ATWIAD & Parade. Main reason why is because when I listed my top 10 or 15 albums months ago it occured to me that 1999 & PR are both in my top 5. So that is the only reason I'm picking this tough match-up. All 4 are exceptional albums no doubt. Mad praise to all! Holla at you boy! What's your pick? Peace! Peace and be wild!

It's a tough choice.
But I have go with the combo of 1999 & Purple Rain. "Around the World in a Day" is a good album and everything. Sometimes its good for a change of pace. But compared to many of the other gems of the 80's, it seems to fall by the wayside. It can't stand up to the titans of the 80's such as 1999 & Purple Rain, even SoTT. Parade is a great album, probably my favorite, but given that ATWIAD is somewhat a weak partner, it drags the whole combo down. 1999 is a huge body of work that shows many different sides of Prince's talents. Ballads to pop songs to minimalistic tracks to dance music to some of his raunchy classics Purple Rain is the case where every song is a good song and each has made me smile. Give me any of the songs (with the exception of Take me with U at times), and you've given me some of his best work in his career. It's not just the hype from the movie, but it is true. The likes of "The Beautiful Ones" and "When Doves Cry" have never been seen again, though he has tried many ballads over the years to stand the test of time that The Beautiful Ones has. It's an amazingly beautiful track that most likely is my favorite of all his love songs I could add more to the list, but I figure that'll do. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

"1999" & "Purple Rain." These albums are nostalgic bricks in Prince's career.
"1999" is twenty-five years old. and next year will be "Purple Rain's," anniversary. Cheers! 4 many years of listening pleasure, as well as the generations to come that will fall in love with these albums. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
