No, I won't. Because Prince has been doing this for too long now. New Prince songs should be OUTSTANDING. Not regular run of the mill average 'back in the day' cover band stuff. New Prince songs should be so good you have to listen to them for days to appreciate it. It used to be that way. If he can't deliver anymore he should just retire.

Dude, you guys are so lame. You ain't not real dedicated fans. OK, so it may possibly be no groundbreaking music, but it's still pretty entertaining. And funky. It almost sounds like "Musicology", which is another cool track. And I'm so proud to see my hero still going and showing these damn lame-ass pop artists today how it's done. I'd rather listen to a track like this this other pop garbage we gotta settle for.

If you don't like this then don't listen to it. Go listen to Journey instead. Lame-ass. rolleyes

The ass-kissing on this site is horrific. The way some of you are swinging off Prince's nutsack you'd think he had you lined up as his next wife. disbelief

It's behaviour like this that's made me not want to admit publicly to liking other performers. Not because of any shame for liking that act, but because I am god damned embarassed to associate myself with the fanbase. I really, really don't want that to happen with Prince. neutral

I love Prince, I just don't worship everything he does. And I don't have to to be a "true" fan, either -whatever that means.

Why is it ass kissing when someone likes a song you don't? I am confused. I like this "Turn me loose" song. Does that make me a ass kisser because I like this song or oher songs that are not the facy of someone else. I like what I like. I don't need to consult a fanbase if I generally dig all or some of Prince work.

i 4 one am not a prince ass kisser and i don't like everything he has put out but 4 u 2 imply that because we don't share ur opinion on this site that we all ass kissers is obsurd. perhaps u have 2 accept that not everyone is gonna like or dislike what u deem unacceptable music from prince
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

sounds like a plan 2 me

He won't lol. Just one of those types who likes to Talk Loud and Say Nothing.

of course not, it's more easier 2 sit behind a keyboard and bitch and moan instead of being creative themselves by making music

I think the track is OK.

I kinda hope it's just a one off song, nice to have. Good guitar part in the middle.

Would like to hear the whole thing in perfect quality.

See, the problem is (and I stick by these sentiments whether you like it or not) a lot of orgers want the Prince from the 80's. I love his work from the 80's but that decade is over and we've seen and heard what the man's done at that time. If you're so fond of that era then just go back and listen to that music or watch those videos to reminisce. I believe John Lennon said that when he was talking about people reacting to the breakup of the Beatles. It's that simple. No one's forcing you to listen to Prince's new stuff, so if you like his old stuff better then just go revisit those songs.

No. It's a great funk jam. But you're right - nothing special here. Nothing new. Nothing innovative.

Prince has been spinning his wheels for years now in the recording studio, rehashing the same types of songs. They're pleasant, but no growth or innovation is happening.

The Rainbow Children is the last time Prince did something kind of far out and fresh. Granted, that wasn't very long ago....but

A man of his genius should stretch himself. Who knows why he isn't anymore?

Another thing: I keep reading interviews where Prince plays a song for a reporter and says something like, "It's too good, they won't get that, I can't release it."
Freaking release it, Prince. WTF?

He has been doing that sort of thing forever. I can remember before Graffiti Bridge came out how he hyped the title song as the next Purple Rain. Same with the song Gold. I did like Gold, but Graffiti Bridge??? I don't think so. Some songs are better off left unheard.

And I am tired of him always desecrating the memory of James Brown. If you are going to do a Brown type song, go full bore, if not, don't release it. If I wanted middling funk I'd ask for the Village People to come back.

One thing about these funky songs. Stuff like "Get on the Boat" "the Work" or "Turn Me Loose" And Yes I believe this has done before and not groundbreaking. For me personally, these songs have always been a lot of fun to listen to live. I still welcome the day when Prince records something that is commercial yet cutting edge and experimental sounding all at the same time. No doubt this funk is fun live.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't really mind 'Turn Me Loose', but remember when a James Brown 'tribute' from Prince meant something like 'Possessed'? Yeah, I think I'll take that kind of tribute to the Prettyman/Musicology template he uses these days.

what makes me luagh is the interview last week wher he said 'where are the poets like Dylan...',. Ahem, check out the lyrics to TML mr P!, they are as bad as anything put there right now. If P were that desperate to copy JB then why not copy JB at his best i.e. serious hard funk, a tonne of chicken grease on the guitar and simple but socially powerful lyrics. Lets hope that if this cut makes the new CD then it'll be a turd amongst some diamonds!. TML ain't the biggest sin he could've committed, afterall it's just a song BUT DAYUM P is so much more capable than this.

I agree with Rake1... you need to find another artist to listen to. Some fans will be forever Prince fans....those are the fans that love him for "who he is" and not what he does. Prince said he had a FU attitude when he did ATWIAD....the FU attitude was for people and fans like you....ATWIAD was for fans and supporters like Rake1 and me.

falloff

Unless you know him personally, you can't possibly love him for who he is. Don't start thinking you've got some deep connection with the man because you buy his CD's, and don't you DARE start calling out those who don't care for certain songs as not being true fans, or not loyal enough, or whatever your issue is. We don't have to be swinging off his nutsack to be fans. A real fan is allowed to say when they don't like something.

falloff X 1,000 - BUT IT WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO DO THAT JUST ONCE?

I for one enjoy Turn Me Loose. I like when Prince is not being typical Prince just as much as I like when he IS being typical. The man has reached a point in his career where he can sing whateva he wants and y'all still be waiting in one line or another to get his material. Besides, TML sounds a lot better than that 1999 remastered bullshit. Just MHO.

What interview was that? I never heard P mention Dylan before. I always thought it would do him good to listen to more Dylan. IMO he should impose a ban on himself ever listening to Sly or JB again. He's worn those influences dry.
