Need sources on Prince Opening for the Stones So I'm doing this paper on point of views, biases, and perspectives and I have a big lack in credible sources. The point of this thread isn't to discuss the incident, I just need credible articles/sources on the event. Thanks.

That's what I'm saying. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com Great article, nice style ...but...Prince himself said he got booed off stage when he opened for the Stones. He said this during the Emporium aftershow in London in 1995, during the Gold Experience/Ultimate Live Experience tour. I mean,it´s obvious that you´ve been there and witnessed the show, and I don´t doubt your experience but if you think he didn´t get booed off stage, why does Prince himself think so ? Also, when I read Dez´s version of the story in Dave Hill´s book, I thought Dez also regarded it as getting booed off stage, as you pointed out and quoted in your article ( which is a very nice read,by the way, just like most of the stuff you wrote about the 1999 album). I don´t really get the part about Prince not getting booed off the stage. You mean they didn´t really dislike him but were merely shocked by the lyrics to Jack U Off ? I mean, reading Dez´s opinion and keeping in mind what Prince said in1995,it sounds like they have a different memory of that event, which ,of course, doesn´t mean that your memory is incorrect but maybe they experienced the whole incident in a different way. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I was there as an employee and Prince was booed off stage. It wasn't because of his performance, the people came 2 see the Stones not Prince. Prince was the last act to perform before the Stones came on stage. Those restless rowdy Stone fans thought if they booed Prince off stage it would bring there hero on faster. It only takes 1 to start booing.

Thanx for the compliments...Let me state that I myself didn't attend either one of the Stones shows. I stated that in the article. What I went by was from the audio of the first show. I also stated that in the article as well. I clearly said that P got booed but not for the reasons many people, including myself, initially believed. I quoted Dez, Bobby and Prince. They all clearly stated that they as a band, got booed. BUT Prince and his band did NOT get booed off the stage during the first show. THAT'S what I said. Prince and his band DID get booed off the stage during the second show. I stated that in the article as well. Over the years, many people have done what you're doing right now. Blurring the two incidents into one. That was one of the main reasons why I wrote the article. To clarify that these 2 shows had two different endings. Prince finished his set during the first show. During the FIRST show, the crowd booed after the band finished performing the song Jack U Off. But during the last two songs of the set, the band was not booed during either song. Getting booed after one song and getting booed off stage are entirely two different things. That's what happened on the first show. During the SECOND show, two days later, Prince got booed off stage during the second song. The band wasn't able to complete their set like they were able to do on the first show because it was too much debris being thrown at them. Like bottles of Jack Daniels. I stated all of this in the article. Two different incidents with two different endings. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Prince was the last act to perform before the Stones came on stage. Those restless rowdy Stone fans thought if they booed Prince off stage it would bring there hero on faster. It only takes 1 to start booing. Well judging from the audio of Oct 9, 1981, which was the first show, Prince finished his entire set. "Bambi", "When You Were Mine", "Jack U Off", "Uptown" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad". Again, you have to be death to not hear the crowd booing after he finished "Jack U Off". BUT there was no booing during "Uptown" or "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad". The second show was a different matter. Dez stated that during the first show, their were some chicken thrown up on stage. Along with some paper cups. The band played through that and finished the set. The second show however, bottles of Jack Daniels, shoes, and gallons of orange juice was thrown. It was much more dangerous to stay on stage, so they bounced. [Edited 9/26/08 13:45pm] SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Just to mention, I was doing some part-time work in an antique mall, and amongst the 11x14 lamenated posters, was one from this day, and I wanted to buy it, but I didn't.
If you are in need of it, I can tell u that it exists at "B&B antique Mall," in North Myrtle Beach, SC. The owners names are Tom or Phil. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
