Snap shot Poll-How much would you pay for online Video access if P ran it properly?. By now many of you will be excited by the USA today interview suggesting a possible P TV channel?. Whilst bitter experience suggests this will end up on the 'pending until hell freezes over' pile lets assume that in 2009 it may happen. With that in mind and also the fact that HQ's video forum was treated so harshly [IMHO] how keen would you be on a service that we had for free via HQ, how much would you pay? [per month , per year], would you subscribe? , what content would you want? etc.
Me?, i'd be happy to pay a yearly fee if it gets us a better version of the great NPGMC, i'd happily pay £100.00 p/a if it included a classic [unedited] gig from each year of his career, videos for every track he and associated artists did, unreleased videos!, the downloads were quick, easy and in high quality and finally any TV appearance was put on within 24 hours of airing. What are your thoughts?.

I'd subscribe just because I'm a fan , but to be honest I know that Prince can do whatever he likes with his work, but I think that we all buy his cd, products, books, whatever and he shouldn't make us pay just for the privilege of checking out his vids-just my

i agree with the price 4 the whole year and content u suggested man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

if there's no portability to it - in other words, if i can't download films to my iPod, order DVDs, etc. - then i don't think i'd want to pay too much, though i'm sure curiosity would get the best of me and i'd eventually end up forking over whatever he charges.

If it provided access to music I haven't heard or live performances I haven't seen, I'd probably pay 10 bucks a month maximum (Cinimax and HBO charge 15 for 15 channels each here).
But if it's just videos of songs I already own--even videos I haven't seen or he hasn't released for existing released songs--I'm not interested. I have no love affair with actually looking at Prince unless he's live.

I'd most certainly shell out some dough for it. How much would depend on exactly what was on offer I suppose. |

Like anything, television stations are tested, and advertisers are paid to keep the station going.
It should be a free station to the viewers, and the advertisers that the show uses should pay for the show. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Interesting idea, as a fan I think I could be great.
Yet Prince isn’t very media savvy, from the quality of his videos, his websites, his album packaging, his dogmatic view of his older work, it sounds like he would be sinking tons of money on a missed opportunity ala his Paisley Park label and studio. On the subject of a television channel i dont think there is broad enoeph to support such an outlet. If this were Madonna, I would give a better shot at lasting a year or longer, for Prince, I could see him losing his shirt ala the Lovesexy tour. I wish him well though and if “pay per view “was an option I would pay to see certain things. I would foresee a lot of gringeworthy editing of his older work and such. [Edited 9/26/08 20:22pm]

on second thought
If Prince's only participation was to give access to a third party, with no other intervention or preset conditions on his belalf then i think it could do prety well..... I loved HQ's video section On the other hand, if Prince ran the show...i dont know [Edited 9/26/08 20:02pm]

Hmmmmm. Depends. Are the videos ones that I can access from a number of sites already? If so prob not. But if they are HD quality prob yes and if I pay for them I want to DL and keep them.
I also want to see concert footage, interviews and all Prince and associated artist stuff. Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

I don't watch any of his videos now....so I guess no. Don't listen to much of his music either. I have my favorites, that's about it....
