What an amazing movie... and Prince, well... he plays a part so 'earthed' it's insane. I honestly can't imagine him opening doors now, but pushing play on a tape recorder? Knowing to close the screen before you close the front door? Flicking a light switch? It doesn't seem real anymore.
Man being with him onstage....I thought I would fall out and die at paisley, but when i got up there and he was next to me playing a bass in some cowboy hat and boots...I was like..oh...ok....he is just a regular guy..." All this time I am thinking this man is a god..then i see him and he smiling and looking at me and everyone else...he is just a man on the street...a cute man at that... Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Se7en said: There are several eras that seem very "genuine" to me -- i.e., Prince is authentic as "himself".
Standouts would be 1999/Purple Rain, SOTT/TBA, Lovesexy/Nude, and TRC/ONA. A lot of the other eras seem like playacting or experimenting, such as ATWIAD, Parade, and D&P/Symbol. The Dirty Mind era seems to fit in that discription. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Yeah, misogyny... The woman in the dumpster, the waitress, the underwear costumes, the doe-eyed devotion, the willingness to give up possessions for a man, the punching and abuse.... it's misogyny. Or, is it acting?
