Just finished listening 2 my ear candy (again!) and I must say that it'z
awesome from start 2 finish.Very nice compilation of the 21 Nitez,and it'z cool 2 think that theze r Princez' choicez 4 r njoyment.Of course,my fave part is when he'z speaking-just 2 hear that voice is absolutely mesmorizing.3121 was a killer opening,and it was a surprise 2 hear All The Criticz bringing up the rear! Loved the instrumental of Whole Lotta Love,and it'z cute 2 hear him having fun with Beggin' Woman Bluez.I njoyed Shelbyz' input,however,I do feel that Prince doez his best work solo.I especially love the way the cd is tucked away inside the book-plus the fact that it'z purple.  All thanx 2 Prince 4 taking us on this spectacular journey
with him.  Definitely a superb addition 2 the gorgeous book.LOVE LOVE

Actually, the Shelby J songs were an unexpected joy Not to me. She BUTCHERED one of my favorite songs, Misty Blue. I LOVE Dorothy Moore's version and don't think anyone can do it justice. i tried to listen to it in full again but i just can't
get through it anymore. the tampon/ciggy spoken part, all the 30 second songbits and the guests just weigh the whole thing down. coming from someone who can even sit through Kamasutra, that's saying a lot lol.

I just got it today - I have yet to secure some nice daytime with a cup of tea to flick through the book properly without my son's sticky fingers but the CD is great. Just what I was expecting, grat reminders of a year ago, "were we there that night?" "Do you remember that one?" I ask my wife - like she can remember, or care. But I am not bothered, me and my son danced around the kitchen before dinner like kids, he loves it too especially all the horns, the music lesson in Alphabet street, all the pure jammin' with the grunts squeeks and squeels - great addition to what looks like a great book and all for only 13 quid!!
I have gone past expecting any super maisterwork from Prince, he has done that and more already. I love this phase, Rainbow Children and beyond with the funk and jazzy filled jam and great live gigs. He dosn't have to-but I think he still does-because he know's there are some of us out here who do know how to appreachiate his Music for what it is-without dissecting it for our own reasons-He knows he'll never Please everyone always & that we'll all percieve different music at different levels at different points in our Lives-So in consideration of Prince & others-I ask for consideration-as if Prince were Your Immediate Family member-Yes!- Be constructive! but not just Nasty-as there are too many other things todo in Life than that! Just my 2 cents! Randee Those are your 2 cents, but the book is $30-$35, so Prince isn't "sharing" any gift. I'm "paying" for it. I love the disc.
I think the people that are complaining about the long vamps and having the background singers featured are forgetting that this is an AFTERshow. He just finished singing for two hours. He can't go full blast for another two. (I know he could have pulled more singing performances for the CD, but it's still solid.) | |

I think the cd is pretty cool and very entertaining. From all the rants I was expecting waaaay worse. I think the little monologues are kinda funny. Especially when he was talking about how he used to hang out with good looking guys so he could scrape up their left overs cuz the ladies didn't want him then. I think the disc totally gives you the feel of what it's like to be at an aftershow. And I think it's a nice extra to include in the book. | |

I just listened to it yesterday and I am happy to finally hear Begging woman/Satisfied, The One/Question of U, Baby Love, Rock Steady(awesome), and most of all Prince sounds like he's really enjoying himself. I'm a little surprised at the track list but I'm glad he's sharing the spotlight as usual with his band. He still outshines them especially with his solo on TO/QOU. The CD is organic funk and rock n roll, with a smidgen of comedy, R&B, and jazz. I guess that's typical Prince or at least a typical Prince aftershow. | |

The CD is jammin. It captures the vibe of a Prince aftershow perfectly. I would have liked 2 hear Prince on a few more instruments, like Bass or Keys, but I really dig this. The "Just Like U" monologue is fantastic. His singing on "Beggin' Woman Blues" is precious.
I LOVE the horn section's parts on this CD. There is some tightness going on right there. I like Mike Phillips, and know him personally, but sometimes I feel like his solos fill up 2 much space with 2 many notes, seemingly showing off his virtuosity on sax. Anyhow... as someone mentioned earlier here... I think that folks here R so used 2 bootlegs, and have every aftershow from the 21 Nights experience, so they R naturally going 2 be like, "Why did he put that one on instead of....", etc. "He's a musician's musician..." |

I like the album alot! Prince combined 2 of his hilarious moments "Beggin Woman Blues" and his spoken "tampon bag" into the disc and i was wild about it. I loved DMSR & 3121 into one song and especially Girls & Boys.

oh and another thing...
It is VITAL that U listen 2 this CD on a real stereo system with decent speakers. It sounds fantastic. The only thing I don't get, is why Prince always goes straight board 4 his live releases. Without really hearing the crowd, it ends up sounding like a rehearsal in an empty room. I think he should bring the crowd up just a little more... at least at certain points. the atmosphere on those 2 nights was electric and it's not obvious on the cd,the crowd noise is a little bit too muted.aside from that,i liked the cd,esp ? of u/the one. | |

it might not be perfect, but I put on the cd a little while ago and suddenly I was transported back to london. I really think it captures the crazy nature of the aftershows, and the sound is fantastic. I was there both those nights and I suppose I have memories to go with the music, maybe thats what P wanted.?
And I have heard several boots of the shows, this is in a different league. love it.  "My God it's full of Stars"

Just received the book and CD today! I'm LOVING it, I really don't understand the negativity around this at all, and it's obviously meant as a 'thank you', 'reminder' and 'tribute' to the people who attended the O2 last year, and especially the aftershows. It's just a 'taster' of the fun we all had, some great jams and a little of this and a little of that! I guess you just had to BE there to really appreciate it! I love Shelby J's songs too, she's a very cool, lovely and talented lady. She's got so much energy and really added a lot to the shows last year. She gave me a great big smile too, so I've got a soft spot for her. Very, very cool! Thanks Prince
PS Such great musicianship, and so much talent in such a small venue, I'd call it the best value for money I've EVER had, and the CD shows just a little of what went down. It was a just an amazing party ya'll!

ok...i've been researching this for an hour...I think i'm close but I'm tired...imma just ask. At the end of 3121, Greg Boyer plays a line of music that appears in a cartoon that I love. The 2 Gopher's in Merri Melodies or Looney Tunes...not sure which. Their names are Mac and Tosh...they're 2 gophers who conspire to steal the farmers radishes or summin like that. They have theme music and Greg plays it at the end of 3121. Anyone know the name of the song. I looked on the credits and I don't think it's there.
