Why the heck are MJ fans joining a Prince fansite anyway?
You got way too much time on your hands and water on your brain if you're an MJ fan and you join this site just to diss Prince or compare him to MJ. That's kinda maniacal IMO.

I'm sure this thread will turn out extremely unbiased opinions

Are all the threads just meant to be about how much we love Prince and the things he does? Don't think so. Most of us like prince i would say, but still are critical, and that's OK. (And by joining te org, nowhere was stated I am no longer allowed to have an opinion on whatever.)

If you want to talk a "pop" composer, I would consider someone like Billy Joel, Elton John, or Lionel Riche as a "pop" composer. Prince was more than that for sure.

As for MJ being the biggest star of the 80s, that can be debated also. He broke a lot of records musically, in videos, and concert-wise, but Madonna could also be considered the "biggest" star of the 80s.

We have to remember, Prince doesn't just pick from a list of 50 or 100 songs from other songwriters to create his music. He writes it.

They both will, but for different reasons. Prince will go down in history because of him being prolific, ultimate musically creative force beyond all imagination and Michael Jackson will go down in history for out grossing everyone, having the no. 1 album, no. 1 tour, no 2 tour and both will go down as being very contraversial, hardworking, great entertainers.

The facts are Prince has created more music than any three or four artists that's been out as long as he has and has put out more music than MJ (Even with the J5) but again MJ has out grossed Prince (not counting the J5) starting with "Off The Wall" until now.

Which is to ask: Does quantity mean quality?

Michael Jackson: 7 or 8 albums
Prince: 27 albums

These don't include best of albums

They both have done too much not to go down in history and that's a fact. People will be talking about them both until the world ends.

why oh why does this discussion even exist? WHO CARES??? Not here to compare Prince to anyone else but Prince. They are not even in the same.....the same...the same ANYTHING!

Let's be clear. Michael Jackson is the Biggest Star of our time. His impact on the music industry will be felt for years to come. Prince will be remembered as a Genius of an Artist. But when kids are in school in year 2050 & they discuss the music of the 80's, you can be sure MIchael Jackson will have a chapter of his own.

This is not saying that Michael's music is better than Prince. It's just that Michael Musically touched the young, old, and races from all over the world. His music was just more accessible to people.Prince had his core fanbase. Because it was a bit too dangerous for some people. But Michael wanted his music for everybody.

When I was young, my Mom would buy me Michael Jackson albums. Because she Loved him. She slept outside the arena to buy me tickets to the Bad Tour (we got front row seats!). That's the power MJ had. Parents & kids could both listen to his Albums together! That's not a common thing. You really have to think about that!

I don't care who you are & where you're from. But if you go to a party & throw on Don't Stop Til You Get Enough or any other Classic MJ dance joint...It's On! Michael just had that Magic that brought people together. So for This his Music will be talked about more than Prince when we're all dead & gone.
