Why the heck are MJ fans joining a Prince fansite anyway? wacky
You got way too much time on your hands and water on your brain if you're an MJ fan and you join this site just to diss Prince or compare him to MJ. That's kinda maniacal IMO.

It's OK to be a Fan of both Prince AND MJ. What's the problem with that? If a Prince fan believes that MJ is better at Prince at something, it's not a crime. lol

We're not talking checkers or basket ball! Seems like here and past threads these MJ fans just want to diss Prince. You can't possibly get on this site and suggest MJ's music and overall career is better and not appear to be drinking too much Koolaid. Just doesn't make sense and there's no comparison btwn the two because they are totally different artists. Apples and Oranges, Bacon and Turkey! Just MHO! Proceed.

So why are we not allowed to tell if we like Bacon better than Turkey?
Are all the threads just meant to be about how much we love Prince and the things he does? Don't think so. Most of us like prince i would say, but still are critical, and that's OK. (And by joining te org, nowhere was stated I am no longer allowed to have an opinion on whatever.)

It's Prince fans who start a thread comparing MJ and Prince on a Prince site intending for a MJ bashing.

Well okay wuteva. But I'm not about to join an MJ site just to brag about my love for Prince and how his music career is soooo much better. And I damn sure aint joining a bacon site to brag about TQ. Just nutso IMO.
If you like both good 4 U but I doubt some of your fellow MJ posters like Prince so my original question remains. Why bother?

Yeah, I am listening to "I got a woman" now and its funkier than any Prince or Michael Jackson

I would never call it funkier than Prince. Better... some might think but not funkier. Both Prince and Michael Jackson will be remembered. Michael Jackson was the biggest star of the 80s. Prince fans: deal with it. Prince was the best pop composer of the 80s. Michael Jackson fans: deal with it!

I know a few people that would disagree with you on this on so many levels. Prince was more than "pop". He has composed many different genres of music.

If you want to talk a "pop" composer, I would consider someone like Billy Joel, Elton John, or Lionel Riche as a "pop" composer. Prince was more than that for sure.

As for MJ being the biggest star of the 80s, that can be debated also. He broke a lot of records musically, in videos, and concert-wise, but Madonna could also be considered the "biggest" star of the 80s.

What I meant by pop was popular music in general, like pop, rock, funk etc. As a composer of popular music in general I think Prince was the best one in the 80s.

When it comes to biggest star of the 80s, Michael Jackson was bigger than Madonna. He sold tens of millions of records and had so many fans that went totally crazy and worshipped him like a semi-God. Madonna was definitely one of the biggest stars of the 80s, but didn't sell as many records and the fan worship didn't reach the same insane level.

It has to be prince
The irony is that his music is more accessible than people think-it is prince that is not.
When he's gone he won't be able to get in the way of it

We have to remember, Prince doesn't just pick from a list of 50 or 100 songs from other songwriters to create his music. He writes it.

Who wrote Billie Jean? Don't stop till you get enough? Black or white? Bad? The way you make me feel? Smooth Criminal? Beat it? They don't care about us? And countless others that weren't released as singles.

They both will, but for different reasons. Prince will go down in history because of him being prolific, ultimate musically creative force beyond all imagination and Michael Jackson will go down in history for out grossing everyone, having the no. 1 album, no. 1 tour, no 2 tour and both will go down as being very contraversial, hardworking, great entertainers.

The facts are Prince has created more music than any three or four artists that's been out as long as he has and has put out more music than MJ (Even with the J5) but again MJ has out grossed Prince (not counting the J5) starting with "Off The Wall" until now.

Which is to ask: Does quantity mean quality?

Michael Jackson: 7 or 8 albums
Prince: 27 albums

These don't include best of albums

They both have done too much not to go down in history and that's a fact. People will be talking about them both until the world ends.

Not a big lover of Jackson. His early work is fairly fantastic though. Only a fool would choose to disagree. Perhaps his courtcase did more damage in the States than in old Blighty. Who knows. Or, other than fans, cares. He's dried up. Quite literally.

The test of time is nearly over for both of them really. They'll both go down as greats within the industry.

Saw Prince mentioned in the gutter press the other day. Given the choice of slanderous remarks I'd prefer to be tarnished with Prince's rib removal shenanigans than MJ's kiddie fiddling. Then again who wouldn't?

Silly post with no outcome. Did allow me to drop a little gob-stopper in though wink

Let's be clear. Michael Jackson is the Biggest Star of our time. His impact on the music industry will be felt for years to come. Prince will be remembered as a Genius of an Artist. But when kids are in school in year 2050 & they discuss the music of the 80's, you can be sure MIchael Jackson will have a chapter of his own.

This is not saying that Michael's music is better than Prince. It's just that Michael Musically touched the young, old, and races from all over the world. His music was just more accessible to people.Prince had his core fanbase. Because it was a bit too dangerous for some people. But Michael wanted his music for everybody.

When I was young, my Mom would buy me Michael Jackson albums. Because she Loved him. She slept outside the arena to buy me tickets to the Bad Tour (we got front row seats!). That's the power MJ had. Parents & kids could both listen to his Albums together! That's not a common thing. You really have to think about that!

I don't care who you are & where you're from. But if you go to a party & throw on Don't Stop Til You Get Enough or any other Classic MJ dance joint...It's On! Michael just had that Magic that brought people together. So for This his Music will be talked about more than Prince when we're all dead & gone.

Even though I´m an old scholl prince fan
I must entirely agree with this
small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!
