You can feel a complete lack of inspiration, although of course the man can still put in a good deal of savoir faire Prince has really lost his funk, his groove and his creativity. He is managing to survive only thanks to his back catalogue and his untouched skills as a live musician... I would never have thought the day would come when I would see half a dozen of black artists being more creative and relevant than our little purple genius. This is really sad this band to me is neither funky nor creative enough to write- co-write, or inspire Prince to come up with something exciting, fresh or funky. though this band is not near as bad as the love4another band that featured Kiry J on the drums, this band to me is a covers band,,, they play covers of Prince songs and they play covers of other people song - what's exciting or fresh about that? I was hoping that by now Prince would've switch up his band memeber's by now.. and any time Marva King in the band i know that the band is whack juice.. also i would like to see Morris go.. the best band to put out great funky exciting music was Prince & the Revolution - the best studio band he's ever had!! - also not buying the new Prince photo book, never was a pix fan to begin.. but been a prince fan since '84 -i will defintely download CD from on line - Prince get's no more of my money! that is until he makes music worthy of it!![b] | |

----- I had an opportunity to hear “Turn Me Loose” this morning and I think the studio version is much better than the live version. It is a cool funk tune nothing to set the world on fire but better than most of the crap on the radio. It is good to hear live drums, horns and bass on an RnB recording. I have been reading this thread for the last couple of days and I find the attitude about RnB music to be puzzling. This station plays a good mix of old and new RnB. I did not hear a lot of southern rap or gangster rap and I am beginning to wonder if some of you are only comfortable with that type of RnB music or that type of mental image of African-Americans. You got people on this board going on about the DJ’s voices sounding too much like Larry Graham WTF does that have to do with anything as if a black male DJ should get on the radio and have a high-pitched speaking voice (LOL) Some of you need to get out of the tunnel you have been living in and open your minds a little bit. I am sure if P had put out a rock tune that was playing on a rock station you would not have had the level of bitching. | |

Ok - first off thanks to the orger's providing the org notes! You rock!
Now for my review... This song is a nice funky jam! The studio version is nicely done however the live version aint bad either! (as always is the case with one of the greatest live performers of our time...how many artists/bands can you say that about???) Its a tight production and song. I've always liked these lyrics as they harken back to the dirty mind of the P's past which is something most fans have been asking for and enjoy. The guitar solo at 1:46 is a nice one and he does cut loose very nicely! The effects at the end are awesome! However my only complaint is that the final "turn me looooose" is followed with a sax solo!!?? awww come on Prince that should have been the guitar again and your chance to really turn loose!At least give a shout out to Candy or whoever is on the sax to turn loose! Other than that I really like it. Yes its a in the same vein as Get on The Boat, Prettyman, Hide The Bone and others but this is one of Prince's favorite styles of music so all the haters need to step off on this one. It is what it is so deal with it. Cant wait to see this one live in person! 8 outta 10 The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
