I noticed that in the Mack also. The way you feel about the Mack is the way I feel about Richard Pryor's film 'Which Way Is Up'
In Which Way Is Up Richard Pryor sets out to seduce the preachers wife and he calls himself "Mr. Goodnight" also when the preachers wife finds out what Richard is up to, she has a line where she says "DON'T YOU KNOW I WILL KILL YOU NOW!" She says it the exact same way P says it on the song Bob George from the black album! Also when I was listening to small club, Bonnie is introducing the band members and she says Alfred! the same way Richard Pryor says his sons name Alfred in one of the funniest scenes of the film. I'm sure he no doubt was a fan of both films and of Richard Pryor. Also as you guys touched on astrology one of my favorite subjects, I had a feeling BG was a fire sign, fire signs are can be egotistical.particularly Aries, no offense but you do seem to make most topics about you somehow lol, its cool though you are my opposite sign Libra. Anyway BG did you know that I interviewed Carol Speed from The Mack? Its in one of my blog on myspace [Edited 9/29/08 10:45am]

Prince is a republican and has slept with 24901 women, 6 sheep, 3 men (although he thought they were men at the time) 1 cow and Michael Jackson on at least 2 occasions. If this thread appears in the wrong place then please dont blame me.

I finally got to watch The Mack, and found it to be okay. I don't think I would buy or probably watch it again. BGZ said that there was a good moral to the movie, and when it was over I tried to think what that moral was. I actually came up with alot of morals... "Pimpin' is not a good career choice","Don't get to big for your britches",I say this because at the point in the movie where he was making all the money, and was able to get his Mom a nice place to live, his actions ended up getting his Mother killed. and finally "Stay the hell away from crazy cops that want you to break the law,so that they have a job to do". Were they actually paying people to break the law so that they could arrest them? [Edited 11/21/08 10:19am] Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

[Edited 11/21/08 10:19am] Yeah, I watched it too I thought it was good, I loved all the 70's stuff, his hat and his cape! Richard Pryor's so good, he makes me laugh even when he doesn't say anything, he's a good actor too. I thought the scene at the beginning with the Mack and his mother was really well acted, very moving... It got really violent at the end didn't it? I wasn't really expecting that level of violence. I suppose the moral of the story is to go the 'good' much harder, longer route (his brother), rather than going for the 'easy' money and 'power'. (And, he knew that in his heart, as he was telling those kids "No, don't EVER say you want to be like me, do well in school bla bla"). Well, that's what I got out of it. Glad I watched it, I'd definitely watch it again, even if it's just for Richard Pryor! Oh, and that part with the cop and the prostitute cracked me up! Her face is a picture! And, definitely one of the best lines in it is when he tells the cop "You know what your problem is, that you want to be just like me, have my black skin.. etc. etc". I can't remember the words he used exactly, but something like that! That was brilliant, classic! The racism and hypocryisy in it is shocking! And to get back to the original post, yes I can see where he said "I want to be your father, lover...etc." could well have been where Prince got the idea for the song! ... [Edited 11/21/08 12:24pm] especially when they had that guy he believed was the one that killed his Mother. I was surprised, because I figured since it was a movie from the 70's it would'nt have been so violent(it wuld'nt have been allowed),but then I thought, it could have been worse cause nowadays they would'nt cut away from that guy getting blown up. that prostitute with the cop was hysterical. I wonder how she kept a straight face? It did have it's funny moments, the one that I can recall right now is when that guy claiming he was Jesus went into the police station looking for money for a cup of coffee. I recognize that guy that played his brother from somewhere, but I can't place him. [Edited 11/21/08 13:52pm] Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach
