I don't care where Prince does these parties, I'm just glad he's still doing something. People are getting all bent out of shape because they keep hearing about them but this is all about business. It's about keeping Prince's name out there and maybe it will help him be able to do something bigger in the future. Remember in 2003 when all we got was a DVD from the Aladdin ONA show from late 2002 and the N.E.W.S Instrumental CD? It was a low-key year but then came 2004. Nuff said on that. Pardon me for being optimistic here, a rarity around these parts nowadays.

Plus, everyone talks about these PP parties from the late 90's. If you didn't live around Minneapolis, your ass couldn't go either, regardless or whether it was for the fans or not. So Prince is doing parties in Cali. BIG DEAL. Our time will come to see him again. Oh and to play devils advocate here, who's to say the celebs going to these parties aren't fans? Does that make them any less significant? They might even be such Prince fans that they might be members of p.org. We just need to chill out and relax. Things aren't changing any time soon but in the meantime, we should just play our favorite Prince albums and groove to that. I'm hope that when Prince comes back to play for us again, he'll be refreshed with new songs and new energy. Maybe these parties will do that for him. I'd rather look at how full the glass is than to see how empty it is.

The problem is, there's no sign of him coming back.

I realised that you had copied and pasted it. I posted my comment because it seemed strange that the author got such a well known song title wrong.

That is strange isn't it? lol
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It really makes me sad to hear of these parties when some
years back Prince stood in front of us at Paisley Park and
SWORE he would NEVER leave MPLS.. He SWORE that he wanted
NOTHING to do with all that LA stuff.....
And now.. here he is.. "The life of the party".....
Playing for all these folks who just wanna party...
not us fans who LOVE him and would give ANYTHING to see him
perform for us again
It would not be so bad IF he was touring.. putting out
CD's having get togethers at Paisley or heck.. even
releasing singles/video's..
but honestly.. we get NOTHING.. while the SPOILED Hollywood
Elite get our man..... neutral
not happy..... sad

She's a riot! I was only vaguely familiar with her before, but thanks to these clips from YouTube and FunnyOrDie, I can say that I'm definitely a fan.

According to her Wikipedia page, she describes herself as a non-judgmental Christian. She has a powerful soprano technique that definitely screams 'musical theater' so I kinda wonder what she sounded like with Prince. Not like everybody in his circle can sing, but it was interesting to read about him handing the mic over to her ...

she kind of reminds me of a spunkier, younger version of amy sedaris. her character on "pushing daisies" is a lot of fun and i can see her being a blast at a party like this. go kristen!

that means i can access the vault on my own and listen 2 the new music since he doesn't want 2 put it out anymore
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

rolleyes I know all that, but it still doesn't answer the question of what the point is in telling us all about these shows and parties we don't get to go to. He doesn't have to be performing like a trained monkey for us all the time, but why perform in a venue not accesible to us and then give us the play-by-play? It's just teasing.

The idea of Prince throwing an Emmy's party seems weird to me - does he even watch TV? I'd be surprised if he knew who half the tv stars were. The party for the drum machine made more sense than this...shrug

patiently waiting for him to come home now...

He's done Emmy parties before. He did an Emmy party for ET and People Magazine in 2006. From what I've heard, he watches some TV. Now what he watches, that's anyone's guess.

disbelief This is really kind of pathetic. Catering to the 'rich & famous' just for the sake of adoration? I agree that the man can do whatever he wants, but this strikes me as the type of behavior he would have mocked in the past. And before anyone suggests it, this is not him growing. In fact, I would even argue that his recent lyrical creations (which I feel have fallen off considerably) are a reflection of his recent experiences/company.

I will dive off of my soapbox.
