Dream! Prince Agrees To Release New Outtake Album. So there you have it; a Prince dream. I was sitting in a little French cafe in Minneapolis. It snowed. Prince and I were both wearing them thick snow boots and a huge coat with them fur lined hoodies.
In my dream he just listened while I went on a long monologue, carefully trying to express why I thought him sitting on his outtakes was a crime. How his life had been a journey, except one where he was the tourguide and we lapped up everything he had to say about the stuff we saw. Except that we also saw/heard the outtakes, up to a certain year. Nothing to do about it. It is a fact, I said, just as the journeys he made were personal and we could not all follow him to the places it got him. Meaning his name change, his slavery and the digital garden. He seemed to dig my explanation of my dislike of his editng techniques. He told me he did not do certain stuff anymore and I retalliated by expanding on my journey-theme of his music, grabbing back the fact that these songs were part of our sould, even with the swear words and inappropriate themes. His was looking down most time, but every now and then his Bambi eyes would look at me end he would frown a bit. I wanted him to release a Work-In-Progress EP of Joy In Repetition, containing the original version, the new vocal, a live version and a remix. And tried to tell him that his recording, shaping process was of much interest to fans and named the song Come and Witness 4 The Prosecution that stood out amongst these and went into a long explanation of how U Got The Look's many guises were the perfect example of his drive as a producer/arranger, even if it was in a dare. And then I cursed. I did not apologise. I did apologise when I tried to explain to him why not all his re-workings of songs worked, like on Crystal Ball, the outtake collection. I used a rather graphic gesture, making him raise his eyebrows. I apologised and then he laughed. When I described to him how I would make him pick his own single outtake album, from his earlier recording period up til ten songs, working on up, he smiled. "How would I chose?" he said and I told him all the songs would have to have a special meaning, or lyrically or production-wise, telling a story of him as an all-round artist, spanning ten songs. He then colloborated with me on a list, scribbled down on a coaster while he drank tea and I drank espresso. We had a discussion on the inclusion of the original Old Friends 4 Sale. He said 'No way', I tried to convey to him why the song was important, but he wasn't sure. So I kept it in as a reserve. We could not agree on what version of An Honest Man to include; or the studio recording with The Revolution, the live recording he did with them in Paris with that wonderful Eric Leeds solo or the instrumental version with the lush Clare Fisher orchestrations. Again, we could not decide, so all three of the versions were still on the list. And last we were discussing to include or Wonderfull Ass or Databank (with The Revolution) as album closer. He asked which I thought was funkier. I told him Databank. 'Databank it is', he then said. We left off Old Friends 4 Sale. I remember him agreeing on a Work-In-Progress EP, but forgot the title. But before he could take me to The Vault I woke up. Bummer. But the outtake list is still on my mind. Here's the tracklist; Make It Through The Storm Tick Tick Bang (demo) Moonbeam Levels Extra Loveable Possessed An Honest Man (undecided on version) All My Dreams In A Large Room With No Light Joy In Repetition (original intro) Databank So what version of An Honest Man would fit best here? . Yup. Serious. I compose while I sleep; serious. Sometimes I just wake up with a song in my head. I just dream very elaborate at times, that's all. You should read about my wet dreams...

I don't think that Prince would have stayed around long enough to compose a tracklist if he was being chastised, especially by an orger. Wow.
Usually in my dreams, Prince comes dancing out my closet in the buff and reenacts Purple Rain with finger puppets. I like your dream better. I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

nice dream tho i wish ur dream would have included some tracks from the 90's man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

That's my fault. I hardly dare to tell ya my dream was way more detailed that what I shared. I told Prince to jump per era; firs tone from the beginning, then one from Dirty Mind, then one from 1999, then from his mega stardom period, then the 'I do not wanna be slave to Purple Rain' period (ATWIAD + Parade) That's when we reached ten, which I set as a limit.

in 1 of my Prince dreams we were on either side of the bed bout to do the oochie-coochie n he was like "We gone have a baby." That scared me n I was like, "A baby" then he got mad.
in another dream he showed me the little dancing boy who was doing everything he could to get my attention. I like when I dream about him. I even had dreams where guys tried impersonating Prince. Weird but true. I saw Prince cry
and I asked God why The answer He gave caused me 2 b saved Now I cannot tell a lie

Such a shame to wake up from such a dream
Love the fact you can recall the songs for the WEP piece. An honest man - probably the Revolution version. Um but i would've drugged his tea, poked and proded til i got the vault combination, got the original OF4S, made him sign over the rights of all songs on the disc (My dream would've definitely included a 2nd disc entitled The Dream Experience' - LOL - including: Wonderful Ass Turn It Up (extended) Electric Intercourse We Can Funk (unreleased heavy extended) The Dance Electric Suite Cosmic Day Witness For The Prosecution (Electronic) The Line Rebirth Of The Flesh Oh to Dream
