U R absolutely right. Annastesia is completely intoxicating, hypnotizing, arousing, inspirational, enlightening and just one of my all tyme favorites. Ooohhh, I got chills and goose bumps right now!!! Hheeewww, mmm... That song is one of the "ones" that just does so many things for me. It takes me on an emotional and sensitive ride. Who needs drug, chemicals, and poison when you can get such an amazing body lifting high from true music written, perfomed by a true musician. All we need is PRINCE. Keep bringing it, baby. Anna Stesia is a fantastic song, crammed with enough ideas and emotion for a whole album on it's own. Like Joy In Repetition it's a real grower, when I first bought Lovesexy, it seemed ok, but didn't immediately grab me. But after a few months of listening to the album, it really started to stand out as an amazing and complex creation.

Yes, that's one of the songs where you wonder what has been in his cereals that morning. Just like Joy in Repetition, If I was Ur Girlfriend or Adore, this one's pure inspiration.
What amazes me is that he rips a solo like that and buries it so deep in the mix. ...and the spare chords at the beginning are genious!

I like the keyboard crescendo right before they sing "we're just a play in your master plan..."..and the guitar getting crazy right before the chant "god is love, love is god...". That's my shit right there. "Climb in my fur."

That should have been the single!!!
I would have tattooed 'slave' all over my body if my record company chose Alphabet Street and I Wish U Heaven as the Lovesexy singles, instead of that one.

And I'm really glad that it seems to be on his forthcoming live cd!

Every time I hear this song, I think of the first time I heard it...
My alarm went off in the morning and I switched on the radio while I laid there in that foggy state you have when you're trying to reconcile yourself to the idea of getting out of bed. As I fought against the reality of another new day, I suddenly heard two cystal clear, haunting chords struck on a piano followed by a pause that seemed to hang and stretch forever before another set of chords that led into one of the most distinctive pieces of music I had heard. I was immediately alert, but still peaceful, almost like I had re-entered my dream state, but yet I was completely in the moment. I laid there, unable to move, just lost in the music as it took me to places on a rollercoaster of emotion: longing, pain, frustration, uncertainty and, finally, resolution, acceptance and joy. This is a song I can't play too often for fear of dilluting the power of its effect on me. But each time I listen, my initial response if reaffirmed and strengthened that this is a classic masterpiece. I stand in awe. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

It's a beautiful song. I can't say I agree so much witht he message, but I like the song anyways. Remember when he did it live on the Lovesexy tour? He was up, like, 50 ft. high sitting at his piano. That was cool. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

What was actually so Amazing yes when Prince did perform this song on the Lovesexy Tour he was like so high in the Air with the Piano and it was like a Levitating,Exhaulting Religious Moment when he said LOVE IS GOD GOD IS LOVE GIRLS AND BOYS LOVE GOD ABOVE. It was Climatic and then there came a Rest after the so called Religious ORGASM and part 2 of the Concert was Performed. It was so Wonderful. What a Tour.

Do you all think that Anna Stesia would have been a hit if it was released as a single

Nope..the cd barely went top ten U.S.. if it even did that. He def would have had to make a video for it that wasnt cheesy like Alph. St. And he even did Glam Slam that went nowhere too, so no. The world wasnt ready for this one and didnt want to hear it. "Climb in my fur."

Mine was in a car, during lunch at school. The song came on and those first chords just hypnotized me. I remember staring at the tape deck, mesmerized by the sound, wanting to be where it was coming from. Then I heard that voice and those words... "Have you ever been so lonely that you felt like you were the only one in this world?" Right away I could relate. "Have you ever wanted to play with someone so much you'd take anyone boy or girl?" Damn! He just has a way of expressing deep, heavy emotion in simple terms. The tone of his voice says it all. The song is magnificent. I agree with HalluRain, this song takes you on a journey. The live version is just ecstatic. Brilliant.

The world wasnt ready for this one and didnt want to hear it. Any single he brought out at that time would reach the top ten in Holland. It would have been good if the audience had heard something with more depth at that time. The actual singles didn't keep the audience's attention. On the other hand, I imagine that 'Thieves in the Temple' has been chosen as a single by Prince for reasons of depth, while 'Joy in Repetition' should have been the one...
