Are you a Prince singleton?

....What I mean is are you surrounded by like minded Prince fans or do you find it hard to fit in because of your compulsion to talk about Prince?

I don't know many people who like Prince as much as I do. Which is a problem for me.

No-one to go to gigs with, no-one to talk about whether I prefer Sign Of the Times or Purple Rain.

I have no-one to discuss whether his old stuff was better than his new stuff, etc, etc..

What are other peoples thought?

eek

Answers purlease!
Shut up already, damn.

Hell, I married a P fam. She's been in2 P since 1999 Era and we've been 2gether since 1999/2000. I did that on purpose of-course, I couldn't see myself marryin' some1 who didn't love P as much as I do. cool

There is that ever so scared look on most peoples face if you say "Prince" more than 3-5 times in aprox. 30 minutes. I'm not sure what it's all about.
I have to admit after the Musicology tour every time I was out with a friend and saw purple I'd point and say "Prince!". It was L.A. nothing fazes them. (well I never looked up lol ). I was just having fun and being silly and driving my friends crazy lol. I'm over that faze...for now lol.

Thanks for all your responses!

I personally really enjoy coming on the org ..but I would like a few 'real' people to talk to too!

Most of my friends don't 'get' the Prince thing and I sometimes feel quite lonely.

I sometimes think that I am weird and it's a bit like living in my own world.

I listen to Prince a lot and quite often watch DVD's but I worry that I should be moving in the 'real' world.

Friends tease me that Prince is so 80's and think that I am just being nostalgic and a little bit pathetic.

This really irritates me and I feel like screaming. Most people that I know think that Prince is pure bubblegum pop and nothing else. This really annoys me.

I went to a Radiohead gig recently and I felt that it was really fake, everyone 'pretending' to be deep and meaningful. That sucks!

Hey Pepper, I can relate a bit. I dragged every x-boyfriend I could find including one I wish I'd left home. I did that because I didn't have anyone to go with and I wanted to get dressed up and not look like I was a ho or groupie or something. I was glad when I found out Prince was married smile but then I didn't want to disrespect his wife by going alone...lol. No one wanted to go with me. They just didn't care for Prince. I even changed up my hair to look different because I was going to so many concerts lol. I've only been brave enough to go to maybe three concerts alone and I walked out early on two because I felt so weird and didn't know anyone. There is a section in here to catch up with people about get togethers and stuff. Hang in there. I'm in the same boat. But I'm sure there are people on here that would love to meet up and hit a show....cheer up. You are not alone. I have a decent sized "3121" sticker on my car and I must have had it on there a year maybe more and only ONE person ever came up to me and talked to me about Prince.....In L.A.... amazing...Things are changing a lot. When I first came here I felt out of it... still do a lot but most everyone is very very nice and just know you are surrounded by friends here... the longer you hang out here the better you get to know not only Prince but his hip cool friends and you are one of them. It takes a certain kind of person to relate to Prince. Consider yourself gifted in a way to be able to appreciate what so many are missing out on.....hugs!!!! heart heart rainbo prince

There is no reason on earth you have to discuss Prince with those people or anyone for that matter, I refuse to hear anyone that's suppose to be my friend criticize what I like, so I don't say anything to anybody. I took my daughter to the Musicology concert and she slept thru the entire thing. Then people criticized me for making her go. She's 23. fuck em all.

A certain someone I know thinks it's *hilarious* neutral that I like to occasionally (read: about twice a year, if that lol) meet up with a fellow fan and completely fam out over Prince. jerkoff What can be better than watching old tv performances, listening to 'rare' tracks innocent and talking stupid crap about Prince's hairstyles/clothes/embarrassing moments?? NOTHING. lol

I'm not sure I have a 'compulsion' to talk about him, though. confused That would be just too weird. Who the hell in their right mind wants to hear the ravings of a Prince fan in everyday life? lol

Hardly, I have friends who respect him but other than that, they don't really like prince.

So I sing "Little Red Corvette" in school alone and just hopes the teachers thinks I'm talking about Horses & Cars.

I can, if needed, bring friends or my better half to the Prince shows - but you know what, sometimes I would rather go by myself alone! Don't need others to bring me down with them because they got tired in their legs, ears hurt, early next morning appointments or whatever... Then I prefer to go myself and have the full experience and even better, meet other fans who can seize the party at that very moment.

I don't know anybody out here in the real world who's really into Prince. Most, at best, just have a passing interest or only know Purple Rain.

And an ungodly number of people still think he uses the Symbol and say to me, "...don't you mean the Artist?" when I mention the fella's name. falloff
