And here I was foolishly thinking this thread was about the song Lady Cab Driver. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Why would anyone want to actually talk about the music?! Isn't that your favourite song from 1999? Taxi!

I am a lifelong (Upstate) New Yorker, but I did go to Minneapolis once just for the hell of it. I thought that it would be silly to go somewhere just because my favorite musician grew up there so I looked at a few colleges too. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

LOL, I just made the same mistake, and this is the first thread i have opened all week. It would not surprise me if it passes by some people, that Prince is actually a musician If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

's OK man. In answer 2 ur question tho, I don't think the whole of Minne is a fan of Prince and there r many parts of the world where people njoy his music more per capita than his hometown.

that's what i'm saying... i came in here to jam and show some appreciation .. in a huge way lol Word! I saw the title and thought it would be a heady discussion/analysis of one of my top 5 Prince songs, but it was not meant to be. I will try to get off/on topic and say that this is, to me, one of Prince's funkiest songs. The bass and drums on this one just drive the hard groove, which is perfectly contrasted with the addition of Prince's unique whimsy in the lyrics and vocal delivery. The keys accent the whimsy perfectly. Lyrically it represents where so many people are at that late teen/early 20s part of their lives (or even later) - trying to figure it all out; in search of something new, wanting/needing to leave the past, but not having a clear path in sight. I LOVE this song!! [Edited 9/14/08 11:37am] perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...
