* Come * ...my P Album Of The Week

With the hott weather here,i put on Come 2day,get me goin',& realised how damn great it is.
I like it better on its own instead of being with Gold Experience as it prolly would have been in its original form.

Come...is so damn funky,i think 1 of the ultimate summer 'sex ur partner 2 this...' jams.
Hehehe,i like the part with P making the sucking noises...like the "U don't even know what kinda cereal eye like" part of Joint2Joint.Just very hip.

Space...smooth groove,very sexy.

LOOSE!...nuff sed! that guitar solo kicks my ass.

Papa...different,the message in the song, the story,i feel that, from Prince's experiences as a child maybe??? dunno.

Orgasm...weird...used 2 think it was new 4 the album...then learnt thanx 2 an org member that its the guitar solo from Private Joy (slammin song & solo) & the female voice from Vibrator by Vanity.pretty nice tho,in theme with the album.

Solo...that vocal is so wild, people diss' this this track a bit,but its quite hypnotising 2 me.so lonely, longing,& sexy.

Dark...nice slo jam, also the version "So Dark" on Crystal Ball is cool,as if the remix of LOOSE! on CB,but the originals ... u r better off with i think.

The afore-mentioned cuts & the rest just makes 4 a really good summer chill out / sex in the summer cd.

Come is Great! The whole album is Wonderful. Each and every song just glides into the next one and at the end we get a climatic finish with the song Orgasm. Prince at his Best on this album from Warner Brothers. Stunning Guitar Work.Brilliant. Thought Provoking Lyrics of Substance and Emotional Fortitude. How many Times am I going to call Prince a Genius? Well , how many Albums will he continue making? The Man Creates Gems. Pure and Simple Gems.

Come is indeed a great collection of songs.

The reason a lot of people (me included)
sometimes come across as dissing it, is
just because we know a bit more about it's
evolution. It was the first album to really
be affected by the fallout between Prince
and WB. And a lot of us feel that it isn't
all it could be.

A lot of the earlier versions of the album
are much more cohesive. And of course, those
of us who were familiar with the songs prior
to it's release were surprised by the radically
different version of the title track that
appeared on it.

Plus it was all tied up with the name change thing.
Why was it released as a 'Prince' album and not
a prince album? Most of the songs had their first
public airing as part of the Ulysses show, where
they were clearly stated as being new prince songs.
Most of them were no more 'Prince' songs than the
songs on 'the Gold Experience', and that just
confused what Prince was trying to achieve with
the name change.

So 'Come' is good, but it could've been even better.

But i myself like *Gold* the way it is & *Come* the way it is,moreso than maybe i would with those other trax on it,or on this Ulysses album.

Come has always been a favourite of mine. Prince is best when he sings about sex and lust etc...

I would be happy if he produced another album like this, the same theme! He should follow up his religious themed TRC with a sex obsessed album.

Bring it on!

I always assumed it came out as a Prince album so that it could count toward the fulfillment of the WB contract. If he released if under prince it either wouldn't have counted or it would have given WB "ownership" of the squiggle name or something...?
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

I initially thought that, but The Gold Experience & Chaos And Disorder are credited to prince, and they both counted towards Prince's contract fulfillment.

Correct. He used Come to kill Prince 1958-1993, he was after all Prince up until this album.

I love this album. I would class it as Princes dark album. He has a lot of almost techno dance songs on it.

I've noticed I'm in in the minority on this album. I hate it with a vengence. To my ears its just not very good. IMO Solo is pure trash, and the rest of the album isn't exactly a masterpiece. With the exception of Papa, Letitgo and Loose! the songs just don't do it for me.
But what do I know?

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Perhaps you have to be in the right mood for the song "Solo", but once it hits you, you realize how great it really is. Yet another shining moment for P.

As was Come, Loose, Papa, and Dark...

*wiping a tear from my eye*
I cannot say enough about the title track. It is so deeply funky, so sexy and raw, it fucks me every time. Sometimes less is more, and vulgarity in itself does not make a great song, but there is no room for subtlety in "Come." It's totally unapologetic and buck-ass naked. I love it, I love it, I love it. His voice kicks my ass in this song. "No more, no more, will you cry, cry, cry, cry!"
