Idolisation of Prince within this forum or condemnatory criticism?

I have noticed (everywhere in life actually) that the same people who react to the latter are not notable for their reactions to the former and vice-versa.

One wanders what groups the Org could be split into. I guess that there are those that just sit in the middle (the majority) and then the extremes at either end which encompass greater/lesser degrees of either idolisation or criticism.

One could ask why the critic posts within this site or why the idoliser cannot see clearly.

For me the type that grips my shit (sorry but it's a term I like to use) is the one that rebukes the critic. I dislike the idoliser. Despite straying there myself on occasion

I think the difference between the New Power Butt Puppet (ie, self-proclaimed fam), and the "critic" is that those who criticize certain aspects of Prince, or certain works, don't hate the whole of the man or his material.

In other words, the critics are giving their own, albeit subjective, assessment of his material, but not all of it is negative. I for example, have criticized certain actions of Prince or certain of his less than stellar works. But I'm still a fan of his music. I still like at least half of his albums, and being that he's created so much music, that's a lot of music to like.

But the drone of a fam doesn't dare speak with a mind of his/her own. It's like watching that scene from coming to America where Eddie Murphy's character tells one of his chosen future wives to bark like a dog and hop up and down on on leg, and she does it without hesitation or so much as a doubt in her mind that it's the right thing to do.

Idolisation is a poor word when talking about a man that has brought beautiful feelings into your life. Prince has touched my heart as a friend that has traveled through the airwaves into my home. Whether my life was sunny or rainy, Prince was there, skilled as a musician and uplifting as a writer.

You don't have to be considered an idolizer...when u love somebody.

I have my occasional opinions about the way Prince expressed a song..although I don't focus on the couple of songs that I dislike. I look at the whole person as perfect with imperfections.

However I was using the word 'idolisation' in it's lesser favoured use.

I posted my thoughts when the whole PFUnk thing happedend and I got my ass jumped and deleted form a few myspace pages. I took all P music off my page and any vids I had. I still refuse to buy anything new that he does, I won't put anymore money in his pocket. HE has not made ammends for things he has done, probally at a point in his life where he doesn' care anymore anyway.

What gets my goat is there are too many newbie kids around that ask too many dumb questions.

Inane ramblings. Extremists on both sides of the Prince debate are annoying for sure, but if they can defend their positions with some intelligence, it doesn't bother me as much. But the completely stupid, flowery, acid-trip-logic kind of writing that pops up more and more on here bugs the hell out of me.
