17 days question This is like one of the hottest B-sides he has ever made...but was this song about his breakup with Vanity? Just curious. Seems like he was in some real pain when he wrote it. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. | |

It was released ...and not just on any single but on Prince's biggest-selling single, the biggest selling single of 1984, and one of the biggest selling singles in music history. It did get quite a bit of airplay on R&B radio and in the clubs. I can't remember if the lyrics point directly to anything in Prince's life... seemed to have been written as a Vanity 6 song from the very start, lyrically anyhow. Back then I used to think every song was about Vanity -- she surely had written many about him -- but I've since learned that none of these songs were inspired by her. Anybody know of one, for sure?
