DMSR making fun of white people?

I get the feeling that Prince is poking fun... that white people don't have a great sense of rythym... we need a little extra help with clapping

"all the white people clap your hands on the 4 now... 1 2 3 FOUR"

anyone else hear this?

Anyone else hear this? Shit..you've got to be deaf not to. He takes it even further on the First Ave gig in 83..physically clapping off time. U can hear my baby Lisa says "Oh my God" and she's real loud when she doubles with P singing the line "All the white people clap your hands on the four now!" This is all on that show. Lisa was like "I don't give a fuck..I'll say it REALLY loud! And I'm white!" She's soooo cool!

hrmph I think it's just some people in general that don't have a sense of rythm, not just white people, heck I'm sure there are even black people that don't have a sense of rythm,it really just depends on the person..

no no no! Prince

I saw another clip where he got all the white people on stage with him and he was marching out the beat for them like he was sesame street or something... lol

I thought the 'oh my god' at the benefit show was in response to an overly loud scream. I know Lisa usually does this scream, but I actually thought it was Wendy here, b/c Prince hunches over in response and then goes over to Wendy...It being her first gig with them, I thought Prince went over to give her support for stuffing up (screaming so loud she nearly blew the speakers)

I personally love going to clubs and seeing old white married couples dance to modern r&b and hiphop.. or going to conventions where they have banquets and when the middle age white people really wanna get down they will put on Salt N Pepa's Push It.. its some of the best free entertainment you can get. LOL

Nah, that's Lisa who screams and then she says "Oh my God". Later she doubles with P when saying the line "All the white people" etc.

No..I believe he was trying 2 get all peoples 2 shake their asses.as he did call out the negroes, whites, puerto ricans,& japaneese.

The saying about white people having no rythm just doesnt hold up anymore.
atleast not only white people..lol
My God, have you seen Oprah dance?....not a lick of rythm lol
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Yes he is making fun of white folks and they absolutely deserve it. It is comical to watch most of the white audience absolutely struggling to find the beat in Prince clips. Who cares. White people are rhythmically challenged, shocker.

I actually just watched a vid of Prince performing that particular song back in {what?} 2004 was it?! He changed those lyrics but that didn't change some of the white people from dancing off beat. lol

lol It IS funny, because it's mostly true!! When I used to dance, and if people clapped along to anything, they would nearly always get it wrong, clap too fast, too slow, clap on the wrong beats, it was really off putting! It always amazes me how people can't clap along in the right places, or when they dance, they dance off the beat, they just can't seem to hear it or feel it - no rhythm in their asses! Anyway, I'm white, but I CAN clap in time, and I'm funky too!! I must have some black blood in me wink It's like that Richard Prior sketch, where he laughs at how white people 'walk' - that is SO funny!

Its not that white folks don't have rhythm. Its just that many black people are more culturely attuned to music that is beat heavy so we learn how to keep a beat very early in life. Any black person who has observed a large group of white people dancing or trying to keep time to a James Brown tune can attest to the reality of this situation.

Yeah, it is making fun of white people and the myth that they are rhythmically challenged. Plenty of black folks I know have no rhythm. My first boyfriend for one, but I digress...

Prince seems to enjoy making fun of people. We've seen this in its variance over the years. For example he invites overweight folks on the stage to dance -"people that need to exercise", as some sort of comic relief.

I have noticed, however, that he's never had all the delicately featured midgets and dwarfs in the house come up and shake a tail feather. What's that about?

I was just listening to that song, it's funny. Prince make fun of white people in a lot of his music, but they never seemed to mind so hey..... smile

The only part of it that bothers me, is that if it was a white artist poking fun at people of colour, they'd be strung up.
RIP sad
