The song "Anna Stesia" just builds and builds and then his spiritual emotion just explodes... and when the song concludes you're left feeling sort of num from the explosion. Funny enough, just like the name implies, the song "Anna Stesia" does become sort of an anesthetic, because it seems to have the ability to block out other feelings of pain that one may be experiencing.
For best results, listen to this song with headphones and/or extremely loud. Whenever Prince starts messing around in dissonant chord structures, you know the song is going to be interesting, and Anna Stesia doesn't dissapoint at all. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope..the cd barely went top ten U.S.. if it even did that. He def would have had to make a video for it that wasnt cheesy like Alph. St. And he even did Glam Slam that went nowhere too, so no. The world wasnt ready for this one and didnt want to hear it. Any single he brought out at that time would reach the top ten in Holland. ... I was being jingo-istic relating to it in the U.S. "Climb in my fur."

The Best song on the Best Album.
That encapsulates it for me. Its songs like this one which make me tear my hair out upon listening to NPS or Emancipation. If you can make such masterpieces, why dilute the legacy with such rubbish? -----------------------------------------

Absolute TOP song... (was a bit disappointing live)
But the LP version ... 10/10 except the Gospel bit could go on for a bit longer and it could have a longer guitar bit and ooo £m's for me and everything ------------------------------

Has anyone here heard that rumors about this song being written at a time when he had contemplated suicide?
Supposedly Anna Stesia is a play on "anesthesia"...and whatever inspired him to live on also caused him to create LOVESEXY and recall the BLACK album. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I don't have the Love Sexy Cd, but I have a couple of the singles LoveSexy, I Wish U Heaven, Glam Slam and Alphabet Street. I heard Anna Stesia in the NPGMC first year Audio 8 Show. I know the meaning to the song, but unsure about why Prince named the song Anna Stesia. I have a friend, and her name is Anna Stacia she told me the meaning to her name, but I forgot the meaning to the name. I have no way of getting contact with her, and I tried to do a search over her name with no luck. I don't know if her name could also be spelt the way Prince spelt the track off of Love Sexy. I just wanted to know why did Prince named the song Anna Stesia does the name like have a spirtual meaning?
