For me there's never been a contradiction. I started out liking Michael Jackson's music. Then I discovered Prince and concluded that, even though Michael is a very gifted artist, I like Prince more.

I suppose there is some rivalry between Prince-fans and MJ-fans, but in the end my gut feeling tells me that most Prince-fans dig MJ too.

Me me me. Almost exactly the same. Been a lifelong MJ fan, discovered Prince a little bit later cos he wasn't really on the radar of very young kids in the 80s so I missed all that. Love them both though.

Every Prince fan is a MJ fan deep down. Some of them just haven't admitted it to themselves yet.

now.... I can't stand the sight of him.

I still dig MJ's music but mostly his old stuff, from 1979-1991. I was a fan of MJ's first, then Prince but in 1991, I became a bigger Prince fan and I've never been a fan of anyone else's like this since. If MJ could make a great album again and or release outtakes from the 79-91 period, I could be a huge MJ fan again but I really don't see that happening. Plus, he'll never be my #1 again. Prince got that one down on lock. Now for MJ outside of music, that's another story.

I like Michael and have always loved the music I have heard or do own...although I have collected everything from Prince...and I only have 3 of Michae's records...One is the Jackson 5..."Off the Wall," and "Thriller."

I'm on a Michael Jackson and a Prince group on Last.FM. On the Prince group MJ is the 2nd most listened to artist after Prince himself. On the MJ group, erm... MJ fans have shite taste from the looks of things - Prince is there in the Top 20 but under crap like Justin Timberlake

Been a fan of MJ since as long as I remember... a fan of Prince only around a year ago... Love both their music... couldn't care less about their personal lives... I try my best to avoid articles that's main goal is to slander any particular artist, even those that I can't stand!

So yeah... I think there are quite a few MJ-Prince fans lol, definitely not a minority

Alot. They are so different but they both made hardcore impact on music scene. I think Prince is on a whole nother level, he is a real musician and performer, Michael is a amazing dancer and performer but freestyle, DONT THINK SO!

i was one of the obsessive people when i was about 12-14. then that all stopped. i moved on to P when I was 14/15.

I never understood the "rivalry" between Prince and MJ fans...they're two completely different artists with completely different styles and completely different backgrounds. I can't say that I prefer one over the other in general; hell, I listen to both religiously every day, both old and new stuff. Besides, I'm pretty sure both Prince and Mike aren't sitting around worrying about who's the greatest. Probably ain't got the time or energy.

P.S.-Even if Mike can't play instruments, he's been this explosive performer working his ass off since he was a kid! That definitely deserves props in my book.

I love Prince but I love Michael Jackson... actually i was into michael's music before Prince's and I think they are on equal levels. Because Michaels got the moves and the tunes... but prince has more songs and has got a real talent for instruments and beats and what not...

both could rule the world


edit: I think MJ is creepy now and I don't really like the fact he re-re-released Thriller..and like he keeps making money off albums from like 15 or 25 years ago but hasnt released a new "decent" album since invincible which had like a few good songs on it

I like both their creative output, although Prince did overtake MJ early on...
