Man, I love this live joint. When I first heard it I couldn't stop listening to it and jammin'. The base line is goes hard too.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

It´s an old, live blues "classic" by Prince done during the Sign Of The Times tour in Europe ( you migh know that the SOTT tour never made it to the USA which some people, among them Alan Leeds, consider one of Prince´s biggest career mistakes ever).
Anyway,it is an impromptu blues song that he performed at the club "Le New Morning"in Paris in 1987, a club where he had also performed a year before ( during the Parade tour ) with his father joining him on stage ( in 1986, not 1987). The song is about the protagonist/singer lamenting about why his girl doesn´t love him anymore, asking her repeatedly " Was it my face ? Was it my hair ? " etc. etc., listing all the good things he´s done for her, things he´s bought for her and so on. It´s quite a simple song but, IMO , one of his best blues songs ever. For many years , it was simply known as " Wasn´t My Faith" because one of the first vinyl bootlegs it appeared on had this incorrect title on the cover.

Levi seacer plays bass on it and Prince makes the audience repeat his name over and over ("Mr. Levi Seacer !" ) .
The actual title of this little gem is still debated among fans to this day but , as far as I can tell from listening to it, it sure isn´t "Wasn´t My Faith" because that simply doesn´t make much sense when you hear the song because , as I said above, he lists many things about himself that she may not like that much, his body etc.,and "Wasn´t My Faith " doesn´t make any sense in that context. I´m still surprised how that wrong title could survive for so many years. ( You know some songs, like Moonbeam Levels and No Light In A Large Room, were known under different titles for years, just like this one).
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Didn't know that Levi pronounced his last name with an sssss sound on the c. Too bad they had a falling out. He was actually a pretty good bassist.
