Prince has never put out a bad album Prince has had tons of classic songs since 1990 I don't hit the skip button on any of his albums purple rain, sign o' the times, dirty mind, and 1999 are over-rated THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT PRINCE WOULDN'T BE A LEGEND WITHOUT THOSE WORKS let's be delusional and say that 3121 is a great album... tons of eh! songs on that one in the last four years i don't think i've had any of his last 3 in constant rotation at all. i keep saying after i'm done listening to an album..NEXT! i have never said everything prince does is golden..hell i can't STAND DO U LIE, 3 CHAINS OF GOLD and they fall in2 ur "golden" age of when prince could do no wrong..well hell i just PROVED u wrong right there. if u can't deal with the man we know know as prince then rusty, the solution is simple, DON'T BUY ANOTHER FUCKING RECORD OF HIS..STAY YOUR ASS IN THAT DELISION OF TIME U CALL HIS BEST MATERIAL AND HAVE A NICE FUCKING LIFE ..geez ..ur like a baby crying cause he doesn't have their pacifer man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

in his Prime. Prince's image and music were as powerful as one. his dirty mind image matched the vube of that album. Prince's controversy thru sign o' the times perios.... his image went hand and hand with the vibe of the albums that he was putting out. Prince basically has had the same basic image for the past 4years.... prince doesn't care about an image for an album anymore or doesn't seem 2 right consistently from his gut on a consistent basis.. when u think of his glory years you can match easily which image went with each time period BOB4theFUNK

if he was writting about God does it have 2 come from his gut in order 2 understand what he is writting about? come on with that weak shit ur saying so in his "prime" as u say he was very cutting edge..okay that's cool. but that was then ..this is ..NOW ..u only want 2 take a corner stone of a 30 story cake..fine ..enjoy ur piece...i'd rather have the whole cake man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

As a whole his body of work is incredible but I would have to agree with you Rusty that from Dirty Mind to Lovesexy his music was at its highest creative level. Every cut was mind blowing. Radio stations would play those albums in their entirety as they were being released here in the Bay Area. I would have to say his band members also played an important part of his creativity with Wendy & Lisa, the Time, Shiela, and the list goes on.....At least I am thankful that he still continues to create music, and still continues to perform and enjoying it. all i'm saying is that from dirty mind to lovesexy there was always that buzz and exitement surrounding him. The only excitement i get now if i actually get 2 seem him in concert. Prince is still an amazing talent and live preformer. I just am wating for one more great album. Lately, i buy a new release and then it's back 2 listening to his classic era. I'll eat the sweetest and best half of the cake. BOB4theFUNK

I thought his music was crap for years and that Musicology and 3121 are a HUGE improvement.

and if the next album doesn't meet YOUR xpectations, then u have another album 2 bitch and moan that it not like his albums from dirty mind up 2 lovesexy give it a rest man, and just don't get the new music if there is any 2 have and just b satisfied with what u have. or... come 2 the new project with an open mind and not judge it on material that was written by 22-30 year old man. and come 2 the grips that this is NOT the 80's and ANY act that is STILL making music from the 80's WILL NOT MATCH THE HYPE because media dictates what u listen 2!!! wake up! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

i came 2 grips with it long ago that prince will never make another classic album again, An artist can only connect with an audience 4 so many years.
billy joel 1975 to 83 elton john, paul mccartney, and so on.. prince's time frame was 79 to 88- Prince will never have 7 solid albums in a row ever again. it will be one average one and another planet earth. BOB4theFUNK

Maybe an album of his all time personal cover favorites, maybe also a callaboration with his buds Joni, Carlos,Stevie, Alicia, Chaka,Mavis..too many to list.....maybe an album with his different band members over the years.....maybe a stripped down live in the studio album with only guitars, drums, keyboards (forget all them overdubs. Just do it on 1 take. Yeah I like that last one sounds. It could be called "STRIPPER")

surely he knows he's lost it.....last great song was 'the love we make'.....no defence for recent cds...lazy production...too much filler...up until graffiti bridge i used to get his cds first day of release when the shop opened.....now i buy them and nearly cry they are so bad..... *awaiting stupid response+ I try to stop myself from contimnuing along this old subject but I share similiar sentiment I felt the same type of thrilled anticipation and anxiousness and excitement untill about Come onwards, still there has been great stuff since then I just feel there is less consistancy compared with say LoveSymbol right back to the start.

I thought that One Night Alone was really good. Musicology is one of the 5 best Prince Albums ever. 3121 is respectable. Planet Earth is lower level, and Rainbow Children was the worst of all of the albums. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

rusty1 said: the rainbow children and one night alone was Prince's last respectable peroid. I know i've done overkill on the 80's on here. I'm objective about the fact that TRc and one night were at least done with confiction. Prince's last 3 abums have been tepid overall. I haven't listened too any of those 3 albums in awhile. I usually go 2 the TGE, emancipation, crystal ball or the truth over his 2004 and on material.
U should be shot. U don't even have any criterion for this topic. Musically The Rainbow Children era is quite incredible, but I found indulgent at times... however, Musicology in my opinion, proved that he could STILL make an album of accessible radio friendly (and admittingly good) tracks if he still wanted to. Planet Earth sounded dated, demo-like in some instances and at one point a slight contravention on his 'I don't follow trends they just follow me' mentality. I enjoyed his last three albums in that after the success of Musicology, he remained virtually consistent and didn't do a Gold Experience or even Rainbow Children - and I LOVE those albums for totally different reasons! Just like all opinions - it's all subjective, seldom declarative. 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

rusty1, when are you going to come up with a new thought and stop sounding like a broken record on this site? And how dare you call anyone delusional if anyone likes the 3 albums in question? The only one who comes off as delusional is you rusty1. Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth are not supposed to be like Dirty Mind or Sign O the damn Times for fucks sake! They are their own CD's and if you don't like them, then don't play them or don't even buy them but don't you come in here trying to make people look like they are crazy & stupid for liking what they like. Losers do shit like that. Is that what you are rusty1? I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
