What Prince means to me The reason I joined the Org a couple of years ago was because I was at one of my "down times" in life and I was looking up Mr.Nelson online to lift my spirits. I came across a few sites that looked interesting enough, but the Org, was a little different, so I joined.
Anyway going back to the beginning, Ever since the late 70's I admired Prince for being different, and a risk taker. Over the years alot of his music fit my changing life. I kinda Used his music to alter my mood whenever I was feeling down and stuff. I guess thats why I associate him with positive things alot. Not to make myself sound like I like pity partys or nothing, but I have had so many obsticles in my way, and sometimes I dont have the best coping skills. I have always turned to Religion as a guide, and I am very aware of the spirituality of/in the world....but, since I am human, it always felt good to be able to relate to somebody else on a human level. And you guessed it! I sometimes suck at that so Princes music was a way to detach and kinda of find some common ground with someone who most likely was going through things I never thought of, and some of the same. Anyway, thats what Prince is to me, a lift up when I think that it's all about me, and my empending doom..... And I'm glad I started posting on the Org, normally I dont go for that but of late it has been a stress release sharing with others my silly thoughts.....and no matter how silly, someone always gives feedback (good or bad) but in general its a nice place to open up. .... prince's music means everything to me in life that wants to attach itself and suck me dry.
and actually, there are a few other artists, including some here on the org who have that same effect, they don't know that about me, but they don't realize how warm my cold heart becomes when i hear those sounds. ...

This is a really nice and sweet thread. Prince is the man I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |
