Anyone remember seeing a PBS special back around '87 entitled The Minneapolis Sound? It was a special on all the great bands and artists from MPLS at the time (Prince, The Time, The Replacements, Husker Du, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, etc). One thing I remember from that show was Jimmy Jam talking about when Prince was still in high school he could play a note perfect version of the guitar solo on Chicago's song "Make Me Smile". Funny to think of Prince playing along to a Chicago song. I also remember they had an interview with Morris Day where he talked about first being inspired by The Beatles' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". I'm not making this up. I thought that was pretty funny.

I used to have this show on tape but lost track of it years ago.

I have it on videotape somewhere. I've been meaning to transfer all that stuff over to DVD at some point. I hope it's still in good condition.

yes i have it and i remember that part about jimmy jam ...or how alexander nevermind was commenting about how certain bands didn't have the chillisauce lol
