To promote The Gold Experience there was a special on VH1 where Prince and the NPG took over VH1. Did anyone see this? I used to have it on VHS but no longer. I remember seeing "Dolphin", "If I Luv U 2nite" and "Rock n Roll Is Alive...." videos but I can't remember what else.

That sounds interesting...If Prince and the NPG took over anywhere...That would only be for the best. That reminds me of the video for "Love Sign," that said..Tickets for guns. I Love the way that Prince approaches confrontation, with spiritual and musical reward.

I love the videos he has from time period. There's always a female character who overdoses on pills, or is morally unstable who needs him to either ignore her or point her in the direction of "good"

Come to think of it, he did it again with the song Lolita

I think I once posted a thread about this reoccuring theme with women in his songs--they're more times than not, morally shaky--while he schools them in what's right, or he just find that he's too well grounded in good principles to fall for their evil deeds.

This broadcast was in late 95 early 96. It was an hour (possibly half-hour) special where the NPG crew took over the network and played videos from Exodus & a few jams from The Gold Experience. I know Prince gets hate for his material from 92 thru 96, but that was the ONLY time in history that he got a lot of media attention & respect. Coupled with the "Slave" writing on his face, people took notice and gave him his breathing room to do his own thing. It was also a great time to watch Vh-1 too, they had some great programming. This was a fab time to be a fan. He was breaking the rules (the unspoken ones) and everyone respected him for standing his ground.

The episode was called VH-1 video break. The dude from "Showbiz Tonight" on CNN(AJ Hammer maybe) use to host it was a female. It was a show that just played video's andthe VJ's would talk about what the artist is doing right before the video. That episode started off normal with the VJ introducing Maddona video but then it cut to Prince and Morris in the studio. Prince asked "is it ready" and Morris with some wires in his hand saying "just about". Then it cut back to VH-1 control room and everone trippin' because their not on the air and Prince took over. AJ Hammer is still talking and then the female VJ runs in and tells him your not on the air...he acts confused so they run to the control room to see Prince taking over. So in the beginning he cuts Madonna off and then he rolls his eyes later when he sae a clip of her video...I thought they were always cool but not then I guess....They look cool now....

I remember right before Mayte's video came on he yelled out "somebody go get Mayte." His voice sounded so normal and clear...it was cool.

I don't remember the videos...Dolphin, Mayte's If I love you tonight....

U're talking about the Love4OneAnother special back in 1995. That was cool, I liked it. I like how Prince and The NPG took over the VH1 until Mayte knocked the plug out.
