The performance of "Tick Tick Bang" was a real embarassment Seriously, did The Kid truly think that this was a cool way to "battle" Morris and The Time?! That performance was HOT! surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water

Another piece of bullshit that appeared as a movie in 1990 was Dick Tracy.

It was nice that GB and UTCM got reissued a few years ago when Purple Rain did . .. riding on that 20-year anniversary of Purple Rain.
I'm glad I picked them all up to replace my VHS tapes, but I won't be watching GB much, if at all. It's more for a complete collection.

Ok, you really are crazy. 'Under The Cherry Moon' is a masterpiece compared to 'Graffiti Bridge'.At least with 'Cherry Moon',there are some genuinely funny parts and the scenery throughout is fantastic.Plus, there are some great songs on the soundtrack.I always thought that the critics were too harsh in their assessment of this film. 'Graffiti Bridge' is a sad,depressing,cheap-looking,long form music video. There's very little humor.

I read somewhere that G B was origanly writen for The Time as a comeback project .Prince wanted it to be their story as Purple Rain was his but warners didnt want to know unless Prince was in the film .
A real shame i think as the final film was a real mess. Just a load of ideas weakly stitched together.Once the plot had Madonna involved, she turned it down (good move for both partys)then Kim which might have fitted in better after the Batman project but i think a complete waste as Prince was very populer at the time, He could of increased his popularaty world wide with something better!! Maybe the aborted Camille film and album!

Yeah,I heard this too.It was supposed to be a Time movie, directed by Prince (who was also slated to make a brief cameo). In the mid-to-late 80s,there were alot of rumors about a Time movie and reunion. At one point,Janet Jackson was mentioned as a possible co-star.Warners were interested, but they wanted Prince to play a major role in the film. A real shame i think as the final film was a real mess.Just a load of ideas weakly stitched together.Once the plot had Madonna involved, she turned it down (good move for both parties)
Did you ever read the early script? This is the script that Prince presented to Madonna in September 1987 when she visited Paisley Park.It is horrendous In this version of the film,Cat is competing with Madonna for Prince's affection...lol...I think Madonna's character is named "Ruthie Washington",if I remember correctly.Prince's character is named Camille. Kim which might have fitted in better after the Batman project
In the fall of 1989,it was rumored that Kim was gonna co-star in 'Graffiti Bridge' with Prince. She had helped him rewrite the script. For some reason,I don't think she was really serious about co-starring in this project. It's inconceivable that she would follow up her successful role in "Batman" with a role in a risky $7 million musical.I had heard that Prince was simply using Kim as a "bargaining tool" in his negotiations with Warners.Initially, they didn't think the movie was worth funding but when Prince mentioned Kim as a possible co-star,they suddenly got excited about it.They gave Prince the green light to go ahead with it. I think it's a complete waste as Prince was very populer at the time,
he could of increased his popularaty world wide with something better!! Maybe the aborted Camille film and album! On a recent thread,I made an interesting observation about Prince.Whenever he has a really successful period,he always seems to screw it up the next year He doesn't know how to ride the momentum and use it to his advantage. In the summer and fall of 1989,Prince was enjoying a very big comeback. The 'Batman' soundtrack and first single had both reached Number One,his singles were all over the radio, and he was suddenly "hot" again.1990 would have been a perfect time for Prince to release a Greatest Hits collection, looking back on his 80s highlights. He also could have done a huge US tour.Instead,he started 1990 off with his worst movie and a less-than-spectacular soundtrack.

No,a movie doesn't have to be funny to be good but it at least has to be watchable, with some redeeming qualities. As for the spiritual aspect of it...I totally "get" the point that Prince was trying to make.I understand the whole "good vs. evil" thing. That's not the problem. The problem is,storytelling isn't one of Prince's strengths. The plot in this film is almost non-existent.

To each its own but the Gett off maxi video was #1 on the charts and Graffiti Bridge...well you know where that went. All that singing in the streets...it was a terrible musical..Man did that movie suck.... There was nothing bad about Diamond and Pearls era...maybe the beard and high hair but that year was it....JMO PEACE Aw, I was just making a really stupid joke. But many a truth is said in jest...I wouldn't hold the Gangsta Glam video up as a great thing. That bikini thing he's wearing is just so wrong. On another note, I will say this: I LOVE the Tick, Tick, Bang performance in GB. I really do. I really loved the Tick Tick Bang performance too. But, man, anyone who loves the art of film-making has to admit that GB, as a piece of film, is baaaaad.

Bad Idea. Sure fire way to sterilize a film is to have every scene shot on a set!! Hey, I just realized that GB looked alot like Sesame Street. Sesame street without the assless pants!

Not everything in the movie was filmed on a set (but most of it was). The motorcycle scene from the Thieves In The Temple segment was filmed in Minneapolis at/around the real 7 corners.
