Prince and Bootlegs I'm just going to put it out there. If Prince doesn't want bootleg DVD's of his shows out there then he should be releasing them himself. He records EVERYTHING he does so why not just put it out. I swear he is so caught up in Prince world that he doesn't see that he can prevent a lot of bootlegs. Remember when he showed that footage from the O2 concerts for like a week???!! The picture was perfect, good editing, etc. He holds all of this stuff and wonders why his fanbase seeks other means to get it. If his ass would release it we would get most definitely get it from the source. Instead we get a book??!! Yea, ok.....good call buddy.
The same goes for unreleased recordings. | |

I don't think anyone should tell anyone, what they 'should' do. And that includes especially Prince, and the music he creates. | |

And yea I am sure you know this d*ck. I was venting, stay away from the thread if you want to act liek a twat. I am not trying to tell Prince or anyone what they should do with their music. however when you perform it publicly it's out there and not entirely yours anymore. It has effected someone else. Basically embrace it. | |

Just because he records something doesn't mean he has to release it. It's not feasable from a financial/business point of view.
With regards to unreleased material as opposed to live stuff: Even if he did, would we still be happy? Lots of unreleased tracks that are generally circulating are available in different versions, edits, takes, etc. People would want this version or that version, which was one of the criticisms of Crystal Ball. Again, it's not particularly feasable to release every single take and edit of every single track. I want those unreleased goodies as much as the next person, but just trying to play devil's advocate a little. . [Edited 8/20/08 13:06pm] | |

We all wouldn't be happy because usually the first version of a song people hear they think it is the best (although most of the time it's not mixed right etc). I understand P wanting to focus on newer material and moving forward. However, he had a perfect chance to satisfy some of his fans with Cyrstal Ball. But he ended up dropping the ball, badly. Now as it relates to live shows, Prince has/had the perfect outlet to stop some(not all) of the boots by just putting up video footage of shows. Now we get teased with these parties he is doing but we can't even get a video tour of his crib that this these parties are being held in. Since we're not even on the D-list we are SOL. It was us who supported the man when people thought he was crazy. All I am saying is instead of P trying to protect everything he has done he should let the fans/friends reap the rewards of being loyal to him throughout the years. All he has to do is put up a clip or two. embrace todays technology. Do something like, for those that missed the show too bad. Look what you missed....boom a clip of him killing it. .
