Prince's Longest Guitar Solo??

Ok,the 3 i can think of r "Purple Rain" live in Atlanta in 1985
JoyInRepetition live in NYC this year at ONA
& Just My Imagination SMall Club bootleg.

Purple Rain comes in at about 6 mins
Just My Imagination about 4 mins
& Joy In Rep,there r a couple of solos.

Anyone know the longest? or maybe even a top3?

...peace

nah its on the Aftershow disc,& this NYC performance i'm talking about was part of the main show that night.i even have the video of it.
he did Joy quite often on the ONA US tour, dunno if it was part of the every-day set or if he threw it in lots, but yeh...i have one from DC with Santana playingguitar on it,just isnt right.
P has 2 play that solo nod

I hate guitar solos. Prince should only be allowed to play funkchords on his guitar. Btw I hate drum solos too, and sax solos (Kenny G style) and bass solos and...
I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

Unless I'm mistaken, you are talking about the Avery Fisher Hall, NYC, performance on April 9, when Prince performed Joy In Repetition in the soundcheck, but not (I believe) during the main concert that evening. It was, however, performed later on at the Aftershow (The World, April 10 AM) - first song - he begins by announcing he's tuning up the guitar. The guitar solos are about 2 and 1/4 minutes and near dead on 4 minutes long, which seems to tally with what you have mentioned.

This version (he prefaces the first solo with 'about to hear Larry/Candy/Maceo/Prince play Joy In Repetition') is the same as that which Prince aired from the forthcoming 3CD live set over the PA at some concerts and after parties in Europe e.g. Click Club Oct 4 am, and Hammersmith Apollo, London, October 4

This version is also circulating on video/videoCD. Maybe the copy you have has JIR from the Aftershow tagged on the end of the NYC main concert???

Reviews on prince.org at the time also confirm that Joy In Repetition was not performed during the main show, and Larry only guested during the main show for a Sly cover.(Sing A Simple Song), whereas he was present on stage for most of the Aftershow.

Billy's Sunglasses is hardly a "song" as such, but damn he does play the guitar for an age. I had that track on my computer for a while, allegedly, and I got a little bored with the Billy part and used to skip to when he starts playing "Strange Relationship".

That song sounds so cool play on a guitar like that, don't u think?

Why can't he have done an alternate version stripped down with the guitar and some chords on the keys.

Never shoulda deleted that song. Dammit.

Fool.

I love Billy's Sunglasses! It can't touch Something in the Water though.
