Does Prince have another huge hit song in him?

will there ever be another when doves cry, or cream, or kiss and so on. a song that gets a great buzz right out of the gate. Prince hasn't had a huge hit song really since TMBGITW. just wondering smile

Oh, without question. In fact, I'm sure that he has more than one taking up residence inside of him. However, whether he chooses to externalize these gems is what really bears consideration.

why r u guys disrespecting their question? This seems like a totally legitimate question to me. Do u think Prince will have another hit single and my answer is honestly no. He doesnt try to produce things that appeal to the masses anymore. He makes some good shit but I dont think it is commercial enough or doesnt have a hardcore beat that will appeal to everyone like those older songs did. Everybody now is into this bullshit people make and not some real funk like P makes or made.

I think Prince has not only another series of hits in him, I think he's got another huge album in him.

The cold truth though is I think the answer to your question is up to the record labels, isn't it?

I think there's a huge difference between having a hit song, and having a great song.

I think Black Sweat wasa song that had huge hit written all over it.

For some reason, it didn't take off like I thought it should have.

I don't think Prince ever stopped writting great songs.

I even think that Guitar should've been a hit song.

Having a hit song has nothing to do with quality.

Some of the biggest and best artists of all-time never had a big hit song.

I think he has one absolutely huge - everybody knows the words - hit left in him. But it will probably be musically low-brow and potentially the worst song on the mediocre album it'll appear on.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the similarly succesful Cream or The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.

I don't think there's another When Doves Cry, Kiss or even something as adventurous as Batdance left in the tank.

I'd love to be wrong.

i think the answer is no.

not because he cant, its because he is too old. how many 50 year olds have hits these days?

then again, he'll probably prove me wrong.

That's exactly what I think right there and so far, the record lables haven't done much to help push the singles released, though they were close with the Musicology singles. I hope and pray that I can see Prince have a hit album/song at least one more time. It would be incredible, it really would be.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Prince had his time. Now that he's older (and considered a music legend), I'm pretty sure if he did make another incredibly good song, it won't be a hit song because he's not the star to look out for anymore. Now it's Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Rihanna and a bunch of other stars' time to release new hit songs and make history. So sadly, I believe Prince will never make another huge hit. sad

Nah. He isn't that marketable as a top 40 act. His place is as a legend playing all the familiar songs from older people's youth.

Prince has never been a big hits artist anyway, though. When you look back at all the singles over the course of his massive career, not all that many of them have charted compared to the volume of ones released.

L4one another can't accept that fact that Prince's heyday was over exactly 20 years ago. he'll say everything prince does is great and don't ever put down the man. Prince is a musical genious who has hit a wall musically. There are only so many creative notes that one person can have in their brain. Prince is still a great live performer but he hasn't done a creative album since The Rainbow Children. Like i've said before, Prince has had about 5 solid albums since 1990. Prince has a lot of wasted Years because of the entire slave and name change issues with his record company. Prince only changed his name 2 get away from warner bros. That Prince is dead thing was only done 2 get out of his contract. Prince got away from the music and just focused on his fight with WB. Prince lost tons of fans over those years because they were fed up with his pickering. Anyway. Prince will never have a song that will be in the little red corvette league anymore. That ship has long past him by.....BOBBY

I could see things aligning so Prince had another hit, but I see it being more a one-song kind of thing. Kind of like when Santana had his big one-hit comeback with "Smooth" a few years ago and then that was it. Prince is still popular enough and so well respected by the general public that he could easily have something like that with a catchy enough song and the right timing.

That would be true if Prince had an interest in such things. IMHO I'd say that he does NOT have that interest.
