Okay, im trying to learn how to play guitar and bass.

from his first album prince seemed to be pretty damn good at all those things... but im hearing NOW that within the past few years he's gotten better at it.

Im tryna understand where yall are coming from with this judgement, cuz it always sounded like he knew what he was doing. Where was the change and the growth?

Was he not able to play certain things?

artistry comes from knowing oneself, so if one knows oneself more, one's artistry gets better

Who said he "just" got better.

I think it's possible that he plays with greater ease and nuance now than he did years ago...purely because he plays more (in concert) than he used to.

Then again...it'd hard to top Just My Imagination - which was recorded 20 years ago.

He said in an interview during the Musicology tour that he didn't think he had got 'better' at playing guitar or singing or anything, but he probably believed in his gifts more... so I think that answers the question?!
