I've been with MJ much longer than with Prince. I would say a great amount, especially in the U.S.A

I'm gonna take this step further and ask just how many MJ fans you think are Prince fans? Because on UTUBE if you look at the MJ vs. Prince posts in there, you can really tell that there is a bias towards MJ. LOL

I wonder how many Prince fans like Wham!?

I liked MJ before I liked Prince.

I had only seen 1999 and Litter Read corvette on TV and thought it was...meh.

Not bad.. Not great.


MJ , on the other hand blew me away. The moonwalk, the vocals, the excitement he brought back into the music industry--all of it.

It was when I heard the enter 1999 album and then saw When Doves Cry that I completely forgot about MJ.
It happened like over night.

Since then I look back on MJ with a certain perplexion--the guy creeps me out. But I can't deny he's talented. I just don't much care for his stuff.

Prince, I stayed a fan of him and his music up until the present time, though I think most of his post millennium material sucks ass... I do still consider myself a Prince fan though.

These are what I see as the main differences...

The Music
Michael's music appeals to a wider audience as it is pop focused and pretty midle of the road.
Prince's music can be controversial, deep, meaningful, sexy, orgasmic, funky, acoustic - broad ranging.

The live performance
Michael Jackson - fantastic showman. The concert is performed to perfection and a delight to watch. Every show is identical and perfectly staged
Prince - fantastic showman. Every show is different. Expect the unexpected. He will set your soul on fire.

i will point out the thread which existed on mjno called 'is prince sexy...really' it was the 5th most posted in thread on the site in the general area and i saw more stuff in that thread (footage, pictures and links etc than i have seen since in a single thread) including the is prince buff threads, sadly it was eventually shut down by the mods about 3 days before the site shut down but it was hilarious whilst it lasted

Most interesting things about Michael Jackson concern his bizarre behaviour, his habits and all that tabloid stuff (the mask, the surgery, fake nose, more than 50% of his face is artificial and so on and on and on...)

My fave?

Jackson's gardener once found a plastic nose preserved in some fluid in a glass container while he was working on the ground.

And we're comparing him to Prince....

I think most of them appreciate him, though I wouldn't be surprised if those numbers are decreasing every year. I find that most fans here who also like mj but don't call themselves huge fans love the destiny to thriller period best.

I started out liking both for as long as I could remember, but I think I liked Prince more until I knew more mj songs, then I became a HUGE mj fan and would mock Prince out of ignorance though a part of me still couldn't resist him. These days though, I appreciate Prince more than ever and though I've been a casual fan for most of my life with just knowing the popular singles and having only several albums, I'm upgrading my Prince collection and appreciate him more than ever as an artist, which isn't hard to do considering that everyone is copying his sound today.

But overall MJ and Prince are the best male artists ever to me

My mom loves MJ so I've loved him all my life and still do.
But when I really got into Prince there was no comparison.
So im a fan of both but Prince is my number 1!
