just read back my stupid reply to a thread about the Linn machine and had 1 of those whoaaaaa moments. P has given us more great musical memories than any other artist [even when weighed against his on line battles]. You know I'm sat here listening to the last few tracks of Emancipation [Holy river, saviour, friend lover, lets make a baby etc] and i'm blown away by the beauty , honesty and pain in these trax from a supposedly mediocre album!.
Yes he has raised the bar to unachieveable heights over a stellar career, so why are we so hung up [me more than most!] about his next CD being mind blowing / challenging, or why were the last 3 albums uninspring imitations of his old self. I think a lot of us need to chill, reflect and accept that P is in a comforatble and happy place right now. The Holly rock period is seemingly about to end and we are gearing up for a new phase. Lets just give our support and love and wish him well.

has some medals that aren't gold. Let the man glide into the wall...he's
earned it. I know one thing...I'm NEVER going to stop buying Prince's material because he's proven himself and his musical chops to me many times over.

Prince isn't your friend. He isn't your saviour. He's an artist. Who gets PAID to make music. And some people like some of it. Some people don't. He hasn't "given" me a thing. I've PAID for the experiences with my hard earned money. With that said, he doesn't owe me anything anymore than i owe him anything.

Prince isn't thinking about you or me. It's really not that deep! Take it down a couple notches, people.

This whole forum is to discuss Prince and his great career. Everyone has the right to like and not like whatever they want in his career. They have a right to voice it too. There's some Prince albums that are not that great, The Vault is one of them. Does anyone of us have to like everything he does? Nope.

Who's to say that he's not? We have absolutely nothing to do with his happiness. Strike that, yes we do. As his supporters, we have contributed dearly to his being able to live a far better life than most of us here. After all, very few of us can take a year off and live in the manner that he does. The fans made that kinda privilege possible. On his unhappiest, least sane day, he's doin' a helluva lot better than most musicians. He's even got the loot to tear it all down and start over and/or put Dr. Everything'llbealright on retainer.

Yes, agreed, fans are way too hard but they just keep wanting him to return to the greats that he once did, but every artist has a peak then a fall and sometimes a peak again, sometimes not.
We've had a London tour and new music (PE being one of his better efforts of late), and hes still in the public eye so we have stuff to be thankful for!

That's the truth. It happens here ALL the time. It's as if those people who do that feel it's their duty and obligation to bring things to their definition of "reality" and make anyone who says they love Prince or something of Prince's look like they are crazier than shit. That's just flat out wrong. This shit here is real. It's real love for a real artist. Exactly. A lot of folks absolutely can't stand to hear one negative thing about Prince or even one of his songs. It's almost like they want people to bow their heads and pray to Prince.
