Men's and Women's Opinions Differ...Or do They? Men's and Women's Opinions Differ...Or do They?
When it comes to Prince's music, We all have individual opinions, however it is safe to say that, "Planet Earth," may be more appealing to women. It may also be safe to say that "The Rainbow Children," may be more appealing to men. Let's discuss Prince's albums, and do to the majority of their content, why would you say that a particular album would be more appealing to a man or a woman. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Tame honey, what are you getting on about?
Anyways, I don't think Prince's music is split amongts gender lines so much as age and race/ethnic lines, with the exception of ROCK oriented songs primarily being liked by white males, whereas white females are more diverse in their tastes. Time and time again I see a reoccuring theme. Fans like his music for some elusive "umph" factor, and for some that's how loud he makes his guitar scream. For others, it's how funky his bassline is. Still for others, it's how his vocals hit just the right emotional triggers in them. All in all, it's about passion--Where LoveSexy's album cover, according to Prince was like a mirror being shown to those who looked at it, I think Prince's music and how it is received alot of time says more about the person listening than the music itself. Planet Earth , however, is transcendent Poo to most, male or female I think. (BTW, I don't hate Planet Earth). . [Edited 8/15/08 10:57am]

I can't comment on "Planet Earth" or the recent albums because the only people I know who have bought these albums, except myself, are people on the org.
As far Prince, when I was growing up, it was usually the males that were more into him because his music was so hard and funky. Females were usually looking for music that was slow with "meaningful lyrics". You do realize that I'm talking about Prince's early years before he became "meaningful" himself. Imago..I believe you are right about music appealing to different people in different ways...
Prince offering great guitar skills is going to thrill a girl that doesn't play guitar, although Prince will impress a male musician. Prince's songs appeal to both the feminine and masculine sides of listeners, although, "Planet Earth," is mostly love songs, so when a guy hears..."I trade them all just to spend with you, All The Midnight's in the world," a man might say..."what a chick reel in line.." as to wear a girl will be flattered. I liked some of the funky musical arrangements on The Rainbow Children but I felt it was exclusive and that some fans were being bannished
There was no chance at communication in case of misunderstanding, only judgment. Even tho the music was jammin, the message that I heard was that some are better than others, deserve more, and will get the reward :gift: reserved only for a few. Planet Earth speaks of Love and in that place, EveryOne is included which gives hope and can rise to the level of Lovesexy where is God and God is imo

The narrator...male...says, "The very nature of this resistance must be banished." Which we know, is those that resist a "One Love 4 all." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

At the heart of a life of a man or a woman...We try to balance those sides equally, and of course Prince's music and spirit contains that equality... I love that agressive masculine half of a man, and adore the compassionate side...although those qualities are not limited to one gender. Prince being a man that has that ability to exemplify Love's tenderness...Is what makes me as a woman, satisfied with my gender. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
